“How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily?

how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.”

Psalm Thirteenth Chapter

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:

Deuteronomy 6:4

“Just a day after the premeditated execution of two NYPD officers in New York by a deranged, suicidal psychopath, two more police officers have been shot in America today. In St. Louis, an off-duty officer was shot multiple times and remains in critical condition while in Tarpon Springs, Florida, 45-year-old officer Charles Kondek - a 17-year-veteran and father of 5 children - was shot and killed early Sunday morning.”

It is hard to apologize for what my young brothers have done by taking matters in their own hands in response to the lawless police executioners that kill unarmed black men.  I well understand that police are supposed to keep law and order; but the police are supposed to make arrests, and the court system is supposed to mete out justice.   I’m not a man that turns to violence as the solution to a problem, but there is a time and place for everything….And if any mischief follows, then thou shalt give life for life,  Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. (Exodus 21:23-25)  There comes a day when a man will stand up and be a MAN.  Young black men see that society is out to destroy them no questions asked.  So now the genie is out of the bottle; the gauntlet has been thrown down and "the time of Jacob's trouble" is upon us.  I close with this scripture:

Alas! That day is so great there is none like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob;

yet he shall be saved out of it.

Jeremiah 30:7

For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:

Jeremiah 30:8

“I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge,

and stand in the gap before me for the land,

that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”

Ezekiel 22:30

November 25, 2014

I am not quite convinced that we have gone through the worst times known to man, since The FLOOD, yet.  Yes, it has been tough and most difficult for many peoples upon GOD’s Earth.  And it has been dreadful and frightening every single day living in the lands of our enemies since the days of the Slave Trade and post Slavery for the hands of those who hold us captives are brutal upon descendants of Slaves.  However, if it weren’t for GOD’s Manifold Mercies and undying love for the Nation of Israel, a lot of us would not have made it this far in our journey back to our heritage.

Since we have found Our GOD of Israel, one would think that our journey should be easier, and for some I am sure that it will be because of absolute Faith and Trust in HIM.  Actually, that which might prove challenging is ridding our hearts of the evil and insane ways of the heathen with whom we have lived for over 400 years and separating ourselves from rebellious Brothers and Sisters who will still have strong desires to live these heathenish ways now and in Ezekiel’s Wilderness jeopardizing our opportunity to walk into the Land of Israel.

Though we deem ourselves intelligent and well versed in the Hebrew Scriptures, it will not be easy to just drop these heathenish ways of thinking and corrupt ideals.  All the days of our youth most descendants of Slaves were led to believe that the powers-that-be are the strongest and most powerful peoples on Earth.  And that this White Man’s Army does the work of GOD. We thought the United States was the greatest nation on Earth, and that there is no better and greater country in the world than “America the Beautiful”.  We believed in the American work ethics and greed, ignoring the innate selfishness and the ubiquitous all-out struggle to be happy in this mayhem with a house and a white picket fence and money in the bank.  And worse, we did not understand that we were programmed to believe that since the Bible contained pictures of White People that they were better than us.  With all our hearts we wanted to be like them, look like them, think like them, and believe in their American dreams.  We thought GOD had more respect for these people only to learn that HE despises their cruelty and their pagan ways.  We did not know that Blacks and Third-World Nations were inferior peoples because of them.  We did not know that the US government wants the world to think its armed forces are the police on this globe, and that the American Way and democracy are the perfect models for all countries to emulate.

Keeping in that same vein, the greatest and most powerful people in the world have a host of religions from which one can choose to meet his/her fancy.  And if one does not find a religion to suit his/her desires, then that person is allowed to invent a god, be it idol, animal, or molten image.  You see, the US is a land of “freedom of religion”.  Just keep your customs and holidays in check to sustain and respect White Superiority and the customs and the holidays of the land.  When Our GOD told our forebears not to do the ways of Egypt and Canaan, HE was clearly talking about all heathenish nations.

After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God. Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.

“Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.   Leviticus 18:3 – 5,30

In the lands of our captivity the peoples are deeply involved in a democracy that is supposed to enable people to vote for candidates who will be a voice for their needs.  The problem is that not everyone is truly represented even though they vote, and since the end of enslavement when Blacks began to vote, we have been shoved aside and been made to live in controlled environments.  And the ballot has not changed a thing – not even with a Black President.  The impoverished only live in dilapidated environments that they can afford, and their children attend over-crowed, inferior schools.  “The Greatest Country of All” does not treat all its citizens the same for double standards are in place to favor the dominate race.  The middle-class lives in more elite communities where there are better residential areas and state of the art schools, while the poor watch television and wish for better days.  And, O’ don’t let me forget, watch and every now and then sing that “Happy” song.

Many, many people love these demographics and the separation of the rich and privileged from the poor and subjugated.  Here in this unfair and cruel environment are GOD’s Chosen People suffering the consequences of our evil and disobedient forefathers who defied the Most High CREATOR GOD.  And now, we are in the same predicament that our forefathers experienced down in Ancient Egypt at the time of their 430-year bondage.  Finally, like them, we are in the process of coming out of bondage, as well.  One of the few differences is that the Children of Israel were scattered into “The Four Corners of the Earth”, and only a “Remnant” of Israel will be coming out of all countries where Israelites went into Slavery.

Another difference between the Israelites who were down into Egypt and in the ones who are now in America and in European countries is that the Children of Israel down in Egypt retained their identity.  The accursed Israelites were mingled with peoples from the “Land of Ham”, and all who were taken as Slaves and removed into other parts of the world eventually lost their identity further fulfilling GOD’s Curse upon HIS Chosen People.

“I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:”   Deuteronomy 32:26

This verse alone could articulate the anger and disdain Our GOD had for our forefathers’ abominable sins for HIM to cast such a curse on us – HIS Beloved.

Today, descendants of Slaves are so thoroughly programmed that knowledge of our nativity for some, is completely forgotten and even rejected.  Therefore, all that Blacks know are the customs and cultures of those who still hold us captive.  If Black Hebrew Israelites are to return to Our GOD of Israel, without question, we will need to go through some form of deprogramming, and the reason is that subconsciously we have too many of the ways of those who rule over us.  And the White Man’s religion and lifestyle has a great deal to do with it.

When our forefathers came out of Ancient Egypt, they were up to their necks in the worship of false gods.  Thus, the GOD of Israel knew well that it was imperative to give the Israelites HIS Ten Commandments straightaway, and that is exactly what HE did.  The Israelites saw immediately that the CREATOR GOD of Abraham was their GOD.  They saw that HE was a Most POWERFUL GOD and ONE to be Greatly FEARED because of HIS Plagues upon Egypt and because of the deaths of all the firstborn peoples and animals in Egypt.  Nevertheless, the GOD of Israel wanted the Israelites to learn about HIS Commandments, as soon as possible, and that HE would not tolerate their worshipping another god.

GOD’s efforts were not a waste of time, but one would certainly think that HIS Commandments fell on deaf ears.  What abomination did the Children of Israel commit immediately after GOD Delivered them out of Egypt and while Moses was on the Mount consulting with the GOD of Israel about HIS Commandments?  They were so Hell bent on worshipping false gods that they forgot the CREATOR GOD that parted the sea before their eyes, so they could flee the ensuing Egyptians.  These wicked Israelites formed a golden calf and said, “These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt”.  Now, remember; the GOD of Israel had just saved their lives, and they gave the credit to a molten calf.  As incredible as it seems, this is exactly what happened.

Hence, the reason I wonder if more difficult times are ahead of us given the fact that so many thousands of Blacks believe in false gods – not molten calves but the man-god, JC.  And given what Israelites are doing in the Land, of a truth, they utter the Holy Name of the GOD of Israel in vain with their own imagined religious ideologies, and, thereby, they profane GOD’s Holy Name and corrupt themselves.  In our coming out of the lands of the heathen there is no question that we will encounter many instances of Israelites committing abominations against the GOD of Israel.

Perhaps now, Hebrews can understand Jeremiah’s prophecy about GOD putting HIS LAW in our hearts and Ezekiel’s Prophecy regarding the Israelites going into the Wilderness. GOD wants a Nation of Israelites to make up the hedge, and if we are to be the Righteous Remnant destined to return, we must go through this process.

Our GOD of Israel is Most Merciful and will reason with us in this transition, for HE knows well exactly how terribly we have been deceived.  When HE said HE would curse us to serve our enemies and to worship false gods in their lands if we forsook HIM and HIS LAW, well that was an understatement.  Most Christians will say that they will die for their man-god, JC.  And of a truth they do die for him, too, as it is part of the curse for worshipping him.  Also, believe it or not, I have heard a Brother say that he would kill and die for Ben Ammi.  There has got to be something in the Hebrew genes that sustain asinine thinking and principles because we can do and say some really stupid stuff.  And the one thing Israelites should never do that they have done as leaders is magnify themselves against the Most High GOD of Hosts.  Our GOD of Israel must be acknowledged and demonstrated to be Number ONE in our lives and before our children, so as to perpetuate the worship of ONE GOD of Israel.  And we must never think to be anything above what we are, especially since we are less than filthy rags in the hands of these heathens who basically guide and control our every thought.

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.   Isaiah 64:6

If we are to make up the hedge for the GOD of Israel, we have to rid our lives of thinking like the heathen, and that would include eliminating his customs, holidays, religions, his educational systems, eating habits, and raising farm animals, etc.  Basically, we will have to produce a thorough makeover of the mind, learn responsibility, and teach our families to live with dignity according to the Righteousness and worthiness that pleases Our CREATOR GOD.

However, although we are not yet in the Wilderness where Our GOD of Israel will cleanse us and will put HIS LAW in our hearts, we can separate ourselves from the wicked – the ones we know for a fact are not walking in GOD’s Book of the Law.  And we can start early by reading and studying our Hebrew History and seeking to understand GOD’s Expectations for us.  This would be our prerequisite learning process for the wonderful experiences ahead of us when we witness GOD’s WONDERS in the Wilderness, as did our forefathers.  Our GOD of Israel has already said that HE will give us HIS Judges and HIS Pastors upon our arrival in the Wilderness.  Thus, we should not have any reason to fear this next big milestone in our lives.

“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more. At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.”   Jeremiah 3:15 – 17

“Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellers as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.”   Isaiah 1:24 – 27

All we need do is be obedient this time and allow Our GOD of Israel to make us exactly what HE wants us to be.  Let us be confident in knowing that GOD’s Counseling will remain in our hearts, and we will bear HIS Ways of Righteousness with us into the Land of Israel.  The fascinating facts about all this is that once we are Blessed enough to make it to the Land, we won’t have to worry about the stiffnecked Israelites who rebel against the GOD of Israel and HIS Book of the Law, because, get this, they won’t be there!!!  There will not be the wicked awaiting us to teach us their agendas, to break our spirits, and to tear down the hedge that Our GOD of Israel will establish in us through our embracing HIS Righteousness.  At that time we will see HIS Ministers the Priests and witness a good life like none other.   And better than that, we will all Represent the GOD of Israel with One Consent, and we will walk in Jerusalem and make the Holy ONE of Israel rejoice and smile at finally getting HIS Covenant People to worship ONLY HIM and show forth HIS PRAISE.

“Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD. And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.”   Ezekiel 13:8,9

“And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD. And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country”   Ezekiel 20:34 – 38

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his eighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”   Jeremiah 31:31 – 34

In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God. They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.   Jeremiah 50:4,5

At that time, it can be said that the Children of Israel make up the hedge and stand in the gap before the Holy ONE of Israel for the Land.

“Wait on the LORD,

and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land:

when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.”

Psalm 37:34

“For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.”   Zephaniah 3:9

The final mile home doesn’t have to be so bad if we band together under the umbrella of GOD’s LAW and let it be our shield to ward off false worship and wickedness.

Nevertheless, it is imperative for us to go into the Wilderness to learn what it means to be GOD’s Holy People and to learn our Divine Hebrew Culture.  What we know now is not enough, and until FEARING the GOD of Israel is in our hearts and until we thirst for HIS WAYS of RIGHTEOUSNESS, we are not yet ready to make up the hedge of which Our GOD speaks.

“If thy people go out to battle against their enemy,

whithersoever thou shalt send them,

and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:
Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,)

and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy,

so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;
Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives,

and repent, and make supplication unto thee

in the land of them that carried them captives, saying,

We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;
And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul,

in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive,

and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers,

the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:
Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place,

and maintain their cause,
And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee

and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee,

and give them compassion before them who carried them captive,

that they may have compassion on them:
For they be thy people, and thine inheritance,

which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:
That thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant,

and unto the supplication of thy people Israel,

to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.
For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth,

to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant,

when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.”

I Kings 8:44 – 53

The Israelis are behaving like they have completely lost their minds.   Anything they can do to cause confusion and get world attention, hey, they are on it.  They are even rubbing White America and European countries the wrong way.

They are steadily taking possession of the Palestinian lands, harassing them, and confiscating their homes on the pretext that the buildings have no permits.  It would be laughable if it weren’t such a tragedy as to how cruel they are to the Palestinians who have been in the Land since the Children of Israel came out of Egypt.  And they have the nerve to say that they have no permits.

If you are abreast of the news in the Middle East, I can say with conviction that things are coming to a head, because the CREATOR is not going to allow these lies regarding so-called “Judaism” and heathen worship to continue.  And HE will end this inhumane treatment of the Palestinians and other peoples in HIS Land.  Shamefully, the United States supports Israelis militarily and financially in their efforts to extinguish the Palestinians.  Their hope is that the Palestinians will up and leave.  Little do they know, that it is just a matter of time and it will be the cruel Israeli impostors who will be ousted from GOD’s Land.  And the CREATOR GOD will Judge both the US and Israelis for their oppression of the defenseless.

“I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.”   Joel 3:2

These Israelis have to be insane to live smack dab in the middle of Arabians and attack them every time they take a notion to do so, and think that one day they won’t say “enough is enough” and won’t rise up against them.   Actually the Arabians won’t have to, you can be sure that the CREATED GOD is already acting to take back HIS Holy Land.  Canaan belongs to the CREATOR GOD of Israel.  HE chose it for HIS Holy Name and for HIS Holy Place to live among HIS Covenant People and even with Gentiles who join themselves unto the CREATOR GOD.  The foolish Israelis have not only usurped GOD’s Land, but they have also usurped the name of GOD’s Covenant People – the “Apple of HIS Eye”.  And they dismiss the fact that the GOD of Israel has Commanded that those who are not of the SEED of Israel may live in HIS Land (Ezekiel 47:22).  Therefore, they have no right to exclude anyone from living in the Land of Israel.

Given the atrocities that the European “Jews” are doing in GOD’s Land and what they have done to GOD’s People regarding the Slave Trade, when the GOD of Israel returns to take back HIS Land they might not want to be there.

Have you taken the time to learn about what methods “America the Beautiful” has used to torture Arabian prisoners in an effort to obtain information from them while in confinement?  It’s shocking and disgusting to learn for a fact that the mindset of descendants of SLAVERS are still among us, alive and kicking, literally.  The CIA seeks to be exempt from prosecution, and President Obama is in agreement.  It is going to take the GOOD and JUST GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to render Judgment on these merciless offenders.

Of a truth there will be ramifications for these inhumane acts against these Arabian prisoners.  The US should know that some of these people are descended from the Seed of Abraham.  The thing that confuses me is that the news media is acting like this is the first time they have heard about the acts of torture coming out of these reports.  I remember well how American soldiers took pictures of naked Iraqis while allowing a dog to snarl at them.

Bush W’s comment was that the folks in the CIA responsible for ordering the torture program were “Good” people.  I suppose he and the CIA top officials would also say the same of the SLAVERS.  If our GOD of Israel does not save us from the hands of these horrible heathens, we will all die by way of police brutality and impoverishment.  And don’t think Blacks haven’t been tortured as well right in the US of A.

The CIA Director Brennan also defended these torture technics but at the same time said some of the methods of interrogations were “harsh”.  In truth that is an understatement, and the fact that there are 6,000 pages on the CIA carrying out these torture proceedings, but the agency only made a few hundred pages available for viewing.  I shudder to think about what they kept hidden to the public.  And it’s no wonder why the US is on alert because of this horrific report that details this country’s hatred of people they cannot destroy no matter how hard they try to bomb them to Hell and people they cannot control.

The US doesn’t hesitate to put sanctions on poor defenseless countries and countries that take control of others without US consent.  The apartheid state of Israel, i.e., the European Israelis, can bomb and raze Palestinian farms and homes, and the Israeli settlers and the IDF can shoot Palestinians and remove them from their homes but no sanctions are handed down to Israelis – the Europeans who walked into GOD’s Land and took over the country and the identity of “Jews”.  The Israelis can confiscate Palestinian lands and murder them when they get ready, but there are no sanctions placed on them.  The Israelis can murder and plunder and ignore every UN resolution, but again there are no sanctions against them.  But the Israelis forbid another nation from having a nuclear energy plant in the Middle East, and the US is in agreement and puts sanctions on that country because a nuclear plant in the hands of any nation in the Middle East other than in Israel makes the Israelis nervous.  Russia invades Ukraine, and the US puts sanctions on this Super Power country because that makes the US nervous.  A few months ago a reporter asked Netanyahu if he would join with America if war broke out between the US and Russia.  Netanyahu replied that Israel has interests in Russia.  This too should have made the US nervous since Israelis are supposed to be US allies to the tune of ten billion dollars annually.  In truth, nations need to put sanctions on the Israelis and on the US.

Israelis bombed the USS Liberty in 1967, killing over thirty Americans, and unto this day, the US keeps the incident quiet.  And no sanctions or penalties were applied against this racist and apartheid state.  The Israelis are numbered among the worst terrorists on this Earth, and they, too, get away with murder but are protected by US “double standards” and its veto at the United Nations against any nation wishing to punish the Israelis for their crimes or act against its wishes.

Sanctions hurt the populous, so why employ them.  I remember when Iraqis were under sanctions and could not get much needed medications for their sick.  And an untold number of people died because of US sanctions.  The people of Cuba, too, suffer because of “America the Beautiful”.  The Cuban embargo wasn’t enough, so sanctions were added because the US felt like Cuba wasn’t doing enough to institute a democracy and human rights.  When sanctions are put on a defenseless country, it’s surely because that country has the potential to be economically successful and has the ability to rise up and compete with the powers-that-be.  This is exactly what happened back in 2003 when the Palestinians were becoming economically stable in the West Bank.  The Israelis started taking more land, inhibiting exports and imports, and making the Palestinians buy Israeli products.  But worst of all, the Israelis found ways to close their stores and end their construction of housing to replace that which the Israelis had bombed or demolished.  How evil and cruel was that of Israelis.  What about the Palestinian’s human rights?  The Palestinians have been in the Land of Israel since the time the true Children of Israel came out of Egyptian bondage.  Thus, Israelis, of all people, have no right to oppress and remove Palestinians or any other people from GOD’s Land.

The US (that aids and abets the ruthless Israelis) should never, ever utter the words “human rights” after all the injustices and atrocities that have transpired and continue to take place in this country on a daily basis even in view of its so-called “Justice System”, “Supreme Court”, and Democracy that it touts.  Of a truth, the CIA, FBI, and the police force have been murdering people legally and getting away with it since their inception.  The United States forcibly migrated Blacks out of Africa and enslaved them for centuries and the US Congress flatly refuses to serve justice for the crimes against Black humanity and ethnic cleansing.  Who will stand up and hold the US accountable for the Slave Trade and discrimination against descendants of Slaves and put sanctions on the US for the captivity of oppressed peoples within their borders?

The Nations of the world should get a backbone and establish a new and improved United Nations that truly defends human rights for all peoples and not just for the US and Israelis.  And the headquarters should be moved out of the United States and into another country.  An no  one should be allowed to influence, sustain, and/or veto the vote of the majority.  And every nation should be encouraged to join, so that the mission of the United Nations Human Rights Division can be applied to help all peoples, nations, and tongues and end their suffering at the hands of others.

No, (as real as is Christmas) JC had nothing to do with starting Christmas observance.  The truth of the matter is that Christmas was borne out of pagan worship.

The celebration of Christmas is not something that was foretold by the CREATOR GOD or HIS Prophets.  Christmas is a man-made holiday that was contrived on Roman paganism, astrology, and beliefs gathered out of the “New Testament”.  Yet and still, nothing about Christmas and the Christian “virgin birth” rings true.  Moreover, to make matters worse, the celebration of Christmas is overshadowed by the “root of all evil” – money.

Although the CREATOR GOD gives no credence to Christmas and this virgin birth, HE makes it perfectly clear that HE does not want HIS Covenant People, the Children of Israel, following the customs of heathens.  GOD condemns the decoration of trees with gold and silver, and without this tree and Santa Claus, people might not be observing Christmas on December 25th, the dead of winter when a virgin gave birth to God.  If only people could see how ridiculous this all sounds.  This information alone highlights paganism and Christmas to be the epitome of false worship.

“Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.”   Jeremiah 10:1 – 5

Thus, the farce of an unfounded “Saviour” who manifest “Joy to the World” and an intangible “Peace on Earth” plus the ways of the heathen across historical times establishes Christmas.  Therefore, Christmas is a man-made holiday which was designed to keep the pagans happy and in belief of JC, who is proved to be a false god with every detail about him false as well.

“C.    In the 4th century CE, Christianity imported the Saturnalia festival hoping to take the pagan masses in with it.  Christian leaders succeeded in converting to Christianity large numbers of pagans by promising them that they could continue to celebrate the Saturnalia as Christians.[2]

D.    The problem was that there was nothing intrinsically Christian about Saturnalia. To remedy this, these Christian leaders named Saturnalia’s concluding day, December 25th, to be Jesus’ birthday.”

Some would say, “It’s for the kids.”  There is enough deception in this world, and besides, it’s time to tell the GOD’s TRUTH about everything.

Violence will rear its deadly presence when the dominant group brutalizes its captives and its underprivileged as has been the case in Ferguson and in St. Louis and in other urban cities across the United States.  Death and destruction will manifest on both sides and the country will never enjoy good times as long as impoverishment, hunger, illiteracy, police brutality and sustained injustice remain the status quo.

Under these circumstances, although people will die in this mayhem, it would appear that the protests and demonstrations are the only challenges that give the subjugated and oppressed a voice.  This is a New Movement, and it’s been a long painful time coming!  End prejudice, establish equity, punish public servants who wrongfully harm others, and LET GOD’s PEOPLE GO, i.e., the descendants of the captives of the Slave Trade, so that they may EXODUS and resettle with REPARATIONS elsewhere.

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.   Jeremiah 30:7

The US blinked when Sony would not release its movie “The Interview” about the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un.  My question is, “Does Kim Jong-un know it?”  This is not the only sign that proves the end of the US Empire, but it’s actually enough.

Many people believe the following passages to be about the devil in GOD’s Heaven.  Believe me, it would never cross the CREATOR’s mind to put the wicked in HIS WONDROUS HEAVEN.

And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve, That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers. He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth. The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.   Isaiah 14:3 - 7

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.   Isaiah 14:12 - 14

How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!   Jeremiah 50:23

And another thing; many think that this mention is Ancient Babylon.  But look carefully at Jeremiah 50th and 51st Chapters, because Ancient Babylon does not fit the bill.  GOD’s Prophet, Jeremiah, says that Babylon will be as Sodom and Gomorrah.  That proves these passages are not abut Ancient Babylon but about a country that is supposed to be the greatest on Earth.  There you have it.

I am just amazed at the things the CREATOR GOD is bringing up front and center.  Pope Francis got on his homeboys about being naughty.  Seems they’ve been doing some “whispering” behind folks’ backs.  Well, that’s what the news media is chatting about.  And I’m sure he got on them about their homosexual craving, and probably told them to keep their lusts in the dark.  Aren’t all these people supposed to be devout and holy and with JC and umpteen idols in their midst to bow down to?  If so, then how can it be that they have been bad boys?  Maybe the Pope Francis should confess the abominations of the universal Church and admit to this farce and leave the real Divinity to the CREATOR GOD.

[The sins of the Children of Israel – the Biblical Israelites – are again repeated in the lands of the heathen and worse in GOD’s Holy Land, the Land GOD gave to our forefathers to fulfill HIS Promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.   This month’s prose is about today’s wicked Israelites who seem to believe that their transgressions can continue without consequences.  I have listed only some of the evils of Israel and added Scripture that lets us all know that the GOD of Israel will not always tolerate the sins of ruthless Israelites who profane HIS Holy Name.  It’s past time for the Holy ONE of Israel to return to HIS Place in Jerusalem and be EXALTED by HIS People the Righteous Remnant prophesied to return.  That which frightens and depresses me is to think that the Holy ONE of Israel might again prolong calling the Remnant of Israel into the Wilderness, i.e., those who choose to return.  T.Y., Editor]

The shew of their countenance doth witness against them;

and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not.

Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

“Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him:

for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Isaiah 3:9,11

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet,

and shew my people their transgression,

and the house of Jacob their sins.

Isaiah 58:1

Rejoice in having an opportunity to stand in the presence of deception;

They take control and commit evil at every turn.

Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.

Jeremiah 6:30

The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge:

the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

Micah 7:4

Shine like gold and speak enduring words of flattery and falsehood;

They Fear not GOD and in vain make mention of HIS Holy Name.

“Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book,

that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:
That this is a rebellious people, lying children,

children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets,

Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path,

cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.”

Isaiah 30:8 – 11

They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith:

and the LORD hath not sent them:

and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination,

whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?

Ezekiel 13:6,7

Have their own agendas and worship accolades and honor;

They forget GOD and seek ways to acquire HIS GLORY.

A voice was heard upon the high places,

weeping and supplications of the children of Israel:

for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.

Jeremiah 3:21

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish;

it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.
For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo,

thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

Psalm 92:7 - 9

Give themselves titles of kings, priests, princes, prophets, and even saviour;

But GOD has not called or chosen these leaders for they advance the ways of Hell.

“…he made an house of high places,

and made priests of the lowest of the people,

which were not of the sons of Levi.”

I Kings 12:31

For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them

every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest

every one dealeth falsely.
They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly,

saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

Jeremiah 6:13,14

Entice their Camps to believe in them as they conspire with works of evil;

Each one gathers Brothers and Sisters to fulfill his quota to gather innocent souls.

The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire,

and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD,

and say, Is not the LORD among us?

none evil can come upon us.

Micah 3:11

Join with wayward people eager to be leaders over the masses;

They have no desire to disseminate GOD’s Righteousness – only their directives.

For the leaders of this people cause them to err;

and they that are led of them are destroyed.

Isaiah 9:16

The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men:

they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.
That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh,

and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man,

he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

Micah 7:2,3

Have made it to GOD’s Holy Land in these Troubled Times;

To lie, deceive, and steal peoples’ hearts that they abandon GOD’s TRUTH.

They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders:

they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.

Jeremiah 6:28

They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children:

they are a perverse and crooked generation.

Deuteronomy 32:5

Raise consciousness to adultery, molest children, and hunger for lust lasciviously;

GOD’s Holy Name is profaned daily, and HIS Anger is multiplied for their demise.

Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom;

give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

Isaiah 1:10

And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went,

they profaned my holy name, when they said to them,

These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.
But I had pity for mine holy name,

which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.

Ezekiel 36:20.21

Have no shame and desire reputation and fame more than Righteousness;

They have no concern for the reasons GOD scattered the Children of Israel.

Therefore thus saith the LORD,

Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people,

and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them;

the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

Jeremiah 6:21

Hate the Righteous Ways of GOD and do not prepare for HIS Kingdom;

Their endeavors are hatred of GOD’s Goodness and love of transgression.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination?

nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush:

therefore they shall fall among them that fall:

at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

Jeremiah 6:15

Are evil to the core and have no compassion for those who seek the True GOD;

They destroy people’s spirits and are happy when they turn from their GOD.

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken,

I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib:

but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers,

children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD,

they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger,

they are gone away backward.
Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more:

the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it;

but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores:

they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire:

your land, strangers devour it in your presence,

and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

Isaiah 1:2 - 7

Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people,

even the fruit of their thoughts,

because they have not hearkened unto my words,

nor to my law, but rejected it.

Jeremiah 6:19

Must be removed from GOD’s Holy Land and from HIS once Good Earth;

Let the GOD of Israel destroy them and end the shame they put on HIS Holy Name.

Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more.

Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.

Psalm 104:35

I will early destroy all the wicked of the land;

that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.

Psalm 101:8

Devise new ways of worship not ordained by GOD;

Their doctrine is from Hell and sustains unhappiness and leads to destruction.

“…unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes,

or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.
When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him,

and hast been partaker with adulterers.
Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.
These things hast thou done, and I kept silence;

thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself:

but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
Now consider this, ye that forget God,

lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

Psalm 50:16 - 22

Thus saith the LORD of hosts,

They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine:

turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.
To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear?

behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken:

behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

Jeremiah 6:9,10

Have no mercy on their subjects even though they hope in them;

They will soon perish in order that GOD and HIS LAW will be MAGNIFIED.

But ye are they that forsake the LORD, that forget my holy mountain,

that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.
Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear;

but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.

Isaiah 65:11,12

Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel:

for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land,

because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Hosea 4:1

“Let favour be shewed to the wicked,

yet will he not learn righteousness:

in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly,

and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.”

Isaiah 26:10

“The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.

For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity,

to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD,

to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

The instruments also of the churl are evil:

he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor

with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.”

Isaiah 32:5 – 7

“…the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.”

Psalm 37:38

“When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:”

Psalm 92:7

“Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.”

Psalm 7:9 – 11

“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

Jeremiah 6:16

“Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD.

“Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God:

thou art my help and my deliverer;

O LORD, make no tarrying.”

Psalm 70:1,4,5

“The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake;

he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.”

Isaiah 42:21

“Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from righteousness:

I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry:

and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.”

Isaiah 46:12,13

the LORD hath comforted his people,

and will have mercy upon his afflicted

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.
And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.
They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.
And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.
Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.
Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.
Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.
For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.
The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.
Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
  Isaiah Forty-ninth Chapter

they shall call thee, The city of the LORD,

The Zion of the Holy One of Israel

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD.
All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.
Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?
Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.
And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.
Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.
For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.
The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.
Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.
Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.
The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.
A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.

Tortured and Raped by Israel, Persecuted and Imprisoned by the United States

On November 10, leading Palestinian activist Rasmea Odeh, 67, was jailed after being found "guilty" of immigration fraud.

The US government claims Odeh lied on an immigration application when she said she had never been arrested, convicted or imprisoned.

Odeh is accused of concealing that she was charged by the Israeli military with bombing a supermarket when she was 22.

The charge is based on a "confession" obtained by rape and torture at the hands of members of the Israeli military (IDF) more than 40 years ago. Odeh, who moved to the United States in 1995 and serves as the associate director of the Chicago Arab American Action Network (AAAN), was alleged to have "confessed" to the bombing charges imposed by the Israeli military court.

"It was clearly not a fair trial," Odeh's lawyer Michael Deutsch, with the People's Law Office, in Chicago, told Truthout. "The entire defense was gutted by the court's rulings.

He [Judge Gershwin Drain] refused to allow her PTSD defense, would not let her expert testify, nor even allow the defendant in her own testimony to mention torture, or her innocence, or the lack of fairness of the Israeli military courts."

Truthout previously reported how Odeh, along with 500 other Palestinians, was arrested at the age of 22 by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) during a massive security sweep following the 1967 war and occupation of the West Bank.

At the time, as now, many Palestinians who were detained by the IDF were later charged with crimes they did not commit to justify their detention. Odeh was charged with bombing a supermarket. While in prison, she was tortured with electrical shock and raped with batons.

Odeh's father was tortured in front of her. IDF personnel even attempted to make her father rape her.

She was beaten regularly with metal rods, kicked, threatened, humiliated, denied medical care and access to a bathroom, and - almost needless to say - was denied access to legal resources. She was made to watch a Palestinian man literally tortured to death. She eventually signed a confession to stop IDF personnel from continuing to torture her father.

Deutsch believes that all of this, in addition to other information like the strength of the Israel lobby in the United States and the fact that Odeh is a prominent supporter of Palestinian liberation, was more than enough to make the case that the charges against Odeh were politically motivated.

Given what the Israeli military did to his client, Deutsch drew a stark analogy for Odeh's case.

"From 1969 to the present, the IDF tortures people, and we have plenty of evidence of this systematic torture," he said. "If you have Nazi courts, would they put in a conviction from a Nazi court in a US court?"

The defense filed a motion less than a week after the verdict and has asked the court to reconsider its ruling.

"Ms. Odeh is now languishing in a county jail hours away from her lawyers and her community," Deutsch said.

The trial and verdict represent a dangerous precedent being set for those working for justice for Palestine in the United States.

Covering for Israel

Deutsch was blunt about what he believes is happening with regards to the US judicial system.

"She is facing a US judicial system that seems committed to cover up the crimes of Israel and prevent the truth from being aired in a public trial," he said.

When asked what a just verdict might have looked like in Odeh's trial, Deutsch noted, "True justice would not have resulted in an indictment of a woman who has lived a peaceful and productive life for almost 20 years in the US who is doing extraordinary work with immigrant women in her community."

Deutsch told Truthout he believes Odeh's indictment is an attempt to "criminalize her." He noted that the organization that Odeh works for was targeted prior to the charges. "In 2010, the AAAN was investigated by the FBI, and the FBI wanted more information on Rasmea's background and sent a request to the Israeli government to pull her file."

Later that same year, the FBI raided the homes of various activists, including Hatem Abudayyeh, the executive director of AAAN. Following the raids, activists were called upon to testify during a grand jury.

"Everyone refused to testify at the grand jury, no indictments were made, and possessions seized during the home raids were returned to people," Deutsch said. "But it was during this that they learned of her history in the occupied territories."

Deutsch is well versed in cases like Odeh's, given that he was one of the lawyers for the Attica prisoners following the 1971 prison uprising and state massacre. He was also the legal director for the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York City and has been with the People's Law Office since 1970.

Truthout was provided with a court affidavit for Odeh's US case, within which Mary Fabri, a licensed clinical psychologist who also worked as the senior director of Torture Treatment Services and International Training for the Kovler Center in Chicago, provided the details of Odeh's treatment at the hands of the IDF.

Fabri has diagnosed Odeh with PTSD and has provided expert opinion that Odeh has suppressed some of the memories of what happened to her at the hands of the IDF.

Deutsch also sees a legal problem with the US government's attempt to frame Odeh's conviction and persecution by an occupying force as evidence of illegal activity.

"That doesn't hold up to due process or the fundamentals of international law," he said. "These military courts the Israelis set up are illegal under international law; hence, no evidence from them should be used in this case."

Deutsch and others on Odeh's defense team say her indictment is part of a governmental effort to criminalize those working to educate people about what is really happening in the occupied territories.

"I've seen, in other cases I've worked on, a close collaboration between the US and Israeli Justice Departments, and I think the Israelis are more than happy to cooperate with that and condemn her and have her thrown out of the country," Deutsch said.

If Odeh's conviction stands, she automatically loses her citizenship and would be subject to deportation.

Given that the IDF just killed more than 2,000 Palestinians in Gaza, the vast majority of whom were civilians, the possible ramifications of deportation are, indeed, dire.

Pro-Israel Judge Steps Down, Replaced by Another?

The original judge for Odeh's case, US District Judge Paul Borman, was forced to recuse himself from her trial after Deutsch and other attorneys accused him of having lifelong ties to the Israeli government.

Borman had angrily refused to recuse himself after initial objections to his participation revealed his close ties to Israel, but then it was also discovered that his family had financial ties to the supermarket Odeh was accused of bombing. Borman had also been honored with a civic award in part for his support of Israel, and his family had raised more than $3 million for a pro-Israel charity.

"She's maintained she was not involved," Deutsch said of the bombing. "Even though she and all the other Palestinians she was detained with said they'd been tortured and recused their confessions. So she's saying whatever she said [at the time of her detention] was a result of torture, and she was not involved [in the bombing]."

Abudayyeh, AAAN's executive director, told Truthout he felt vindicated by Borman's decision to recuse himself.

"It was all about his relationship to Israel," he said. "So for him to have said that he was offended for being attacked [for his pro-Israel bias] was absolutely disingenuous."

But with Judge Drain presiding over Odeh's case, the pro-Israel bias of the court did not appear to be alleviated.

Immediately after the verdict was read, Judge Drain said, "I don't normally comment on verdicts, but in this case I will: I think it's a fair and reasonable one based on the evidence that came in."

Of the judge's statement, Deutsch said he had never heard of a judge commenting on the verdict from a jury before, called it "gratuitous," and added, "That is not his job to do so, but it provides us a window into his whole thinking into this trial."

In addition to prohibiting major components of Odeh's defense, Judge Drain mandated that she be detained for five months while awaiting sentencing. He cited a supposed lack of ties to her community (despite the groundswell of support that has rallied behind her) and therefore a "risk of flight."

"This was in the face of tens of people from Chicago, who she has mentored and who love her, attending the trial in Detroit," Deutsch said. "Also, her whole struggle is to stay in Chicago and not to flee."

Institutional Oppression

Abudayyeh sees the indictment against Odeh as part of a broader attack against the Palestinian community in general.

"There is Islamaphobia, and it's moved from being a personal tool of oppression to structural and institutional," he explained. "Even non-prominent Muslims are being caught up in law enforcement entrapment on both coasts now. The majority of the prominent Muslims caught up in that net have in common that they are Palestinian organizers and are challenging US foreign policy as it relates to Palestine specifically."

Abudayyeh, the AAAN and other groups supporting Odeh believe her trial was in no way fair.

The AAAN released a statement immediately after her conviction, and Abudayyeh told Truthout: "It wasn't fair because Rasmea was not able to offer the essence of her defense, that she was never guilty of the bombings in Jerusalem in 1969, and that she was tortured and raped into a forced confession by the Israelis at that time. If she was not guilty of the bombings, and if she did not accept the 'conviction,' then there was nothing false in her answers to the questions on the citizenship application."

Motions have been filed to reconsider Odeh's bond, as well as to set aside her conviction and allow for a new trial.

"In addition, it is highly prejudicial for the government to be allowed to enter into evidence that she was 'convicted' by Israel, without giving her the opportunity to enter into evidence that the 'conviction' was in an Israeli military court that does not offer even a modicum of due process to Palestinians and that it was based on a forced confession," Abudayyeh added. "The judge did not allow these aspects into her defense."

Similar to Deutsch, Abudayyeh believes another of the biggest impediments to Odeh getting a fair trial is that the government has been allowed to describe her as someone who was "convicted of multiple bombings in Israel that killed two people and injured many more."

"It is almost impossible to get a fair trial in this country if you are a Palestinian who is branded a 'terrorist,' and that is what happened here," Abudayyeh said. "We are hopeful that we will be able to talk about the torture, rape and forced confession in our appeal, because that is the only way that she can get a fair trial, if all the evidence about 1969 is allowed, and not just the Israeli/US prosecutors' version of it."

Odeh's trial could set a disconcerting and troublesome precedent if evidence from a military court in a foreign country is allowed to stand in a US court.

In the wake of the verdict, activists in Chicago and Oakland held rallies and conducted direct protest actions, demanding Odeh's immediate release.

Nora Barrows-Friedman, writing for Electronic Intifada, reported at the time: "In downtown Oakland today, activists chained themselves to the federal courthouse, condemning the trial as one that was politically motivated in an attempt by the US government to silence Palestine solidarity activism around the country. The five activists were arrested by local police just hours after their protest began."

Abudayyeh maintains that Odeh's trial is critically important and says the case must be won.

"We know historically in this country that every social justice movement that has been effective has come under attack by law enforcement, and we believe very strongly that this is what is happening to Palestinians here now," Abudayyeh said. "We are winning some battles now, and Palestinians around the world are winning this battle against Israel for the hearts and minds of the world, with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. So, this is how the US and Israel are reacting . . .  they are attacking us by trying to criminalize us. So if they can take down a community icon like Rasmea, then they think they can criminalize the movement as a whole."

Odeh faces up to 10 years of imprisonment before being subject to deportation proceedings.

Deutsch told reporters just after the trial that he believes there are very strong points for appealing the conviction, which Odeh's attorneys will file after sentencing is concluded.

Abudayyeh believes that for justice to be truly served in Odeh's case, she would be released immediately pending sentencing, since she is neither a flight risk (her entire case was predicated on her demanding to be allowed to stay in the United States) nor a danger to society.

"Justice for Rasmea in the long term would be an acquittal on appeal, which is what we believe will happen if all the evidence of her torture, forced confession, PTSD, etc., comes before the court," he concluded. "Rasmea is a Palestinian icon who has dedicated 50 years of her life to social justice, and who has, in the past 10 years in Chicago, selflessly supported the empowerment of Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims and other oppressed communities here. She is the epitome of an immigrant who is serving the US and its residents, and must be acquitted of this unjust charge and conviction."

Ferguson a stark reminder of US human rights issues - media

Protesters face off against a line of police during a demonstration outside LAPD headquarters

The protests have spread to other US cities, including Los Angeles.

There has been enormous headline reaction in the world's media to the Ferguson protests, and many commentators have taken the opportunity to question America's credentials as a human rights champion.

European papers highlight inequalities in American society, and a South African commentator sees echoes of his country's own grim racial history.

The death of Michael Brown, whose killing sparked the unrest, is "a stark reminder for Uncle Sam that there are a lot of human rights violations on its own soil," says China's official news agency Xinhua.

"It should first fix its own problems before criticizing other countries."

Xinhua adds that few other countries are "as self-righteous and complacent as the United States when it comes to human rights issues, but the Ferguson tragedy is apparently a slap in the face".

Iran's Press TV dedicated all of its morning programmes to the Ferguson clashes, showing what appeared to be "live" video from the protests.

Press TV reported that attorneys for Mr Brown's family had said that the "grand jury process was rigged to clear the white officer" who shot him.

Iranian newspaper E'temad

Iranian reformist daily E'temad: "Anger and arson in Ferguson"

Iranian newspaper Javan

Iranian hard-line daily Javan: "Non-indictment of a white policeman;

anger engulfs 90 American cities"

Iran's State TV said the grand jury decision "indicates the existence of racial discrimination in the USA".

The protests in Ferguson are also one of the top stories in the Iranian press.

The conservative newspaper Kayhan carried a collage of pictures from Ferguson, including a US flag being set on fire. Its headline said: "A rebellion in 90 American cities as a result of the non-indictment of the murderer policeman."

Javan, another hardline daily, carried a report headlined, "Non-indictment of a white policeman; anger engulfs 90 American cities".

Middle East

The story also features on the front pages of several Arab dailies.

In Egypt, Al-Wafd sums up the widely-expressed view in the headline "An uprising against racism in the USA".

Qatar's Al-Watan says US cities have been denouncing "lethal racism", and Syria's official Al-Thawrah newspaper notes that protests against police violence and racism are on the increase.

On social media, some Arabic-language posts have been mocking the US government and even gloating over its mishandling of the case. The Twitter hashtag #USAprotests in Arabic has been used more than 4,000 times since Tuesday.

The #Ferguson hashtag is also among the top 10 Twitter trends in Russia, and press articles have drawn parallels between Ferguson and the Maidan protests in Ukraine.

Russian newspaper Izvestiya

Russian newspaper Izvestiya compares the US to Ukraine and how government protests

in Kiev's Maidan Square began the ongoing unrest in the east of Ukraine.

"Barack Obama gets his own Maidan", the pro-Kremlin daily Izvestiya says.

Ren TV plays on the racial aspect of the Ferguson protests and also brings in the Ukrainian crisis, describing the demonstrations as a "colour revolution" and "an attempt to start a civil war in the US".

Ferguson is also a front-page story in the German press.

Uwe Schmitt, the former Washington correspondent for Germany's centre-right daily Die Welt, writes it is a "predictable explosion" given the juxtaposition of a "grotesquely over-armed police force" with a black community "untouched by economic recovery".

He accuses many Americans of "self-delusion" when they ask how such violence can recur again and again, while abroad "people shake their heads unsurprised, either in mourning or glee".

German newspaper Die Welt and French newspaper Liberation

"America's ordeal" and "United States injustice" - European papers

provide more of the same sentiment, of problems at home for the US.

An editorial in France's Liberation newspaper says: "Ferguson is a long way from being the post-racial America dreamed of by Barack Obama."

In Spain, Pere Vilanova writes in El Periodico that "perhaps the symbolic value of the election of a black man as president in 2008 has been overestimated and inter-communal wounds will never be healed".

In Italy, La Stampa's New York correspondent Paolo Mastrolilli says the discussion has become one about the race problem "connected to inequality and economic disparity". He notes that some of the white demonstrators in New York and Los Angeles wanted to broaden the debate in that direction.

South Africa

Writing in South Africa's Daily Maverick, Richard Poplak finds that images of officers facing off against enraged citizens show "an American city aping South African archival footage".

"It's a reminder that in divided countries, with histories of institutionalized racism, reconciliation without actually reconciling... justice is not just impossible, but a massive cover-up, a ruse used by power."

Ferguson protest leaders to meet with President Obama at the White House Monday

FERGUSON -- Several prominent Ferguson protest leaders will attend meetings at the White House with President Obama and other top administration officials Monday to discuss the ongoing tension in that city.

Obama will also meet Monday with young community leaders from Miami, New York City and Cleveland, where a 12-year-old boy holding a toy gun was shot and killed by a police officer last week, according to a person with direct knowledge of the meeting.

The meetings come as the president convenes a series of sessions with cabinet members, elected officials, and civil rights activists one week after a grand jury decided against charging Darren Wilson, a white Ferguson police officer, with a crime for the shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown. And they take place as the Ferguson Commission – a body convened by Gov. Jay Nixon to probe systemic issues fueling the racial tension surrounding the shooting – meets for the first time later Monday in Missouri.

Monday will mark the second time that Ferguson activists have met with administration officials at the White House. In September, two protesters, a clergy member, and two local residents traveled to Washington to speak with White House aides.

Obama addressed the nation moments after the grand jury decision was announced last week, urging peace but also calling for a larger conversation about challenges often faced by communities of color when dealing with law enforcement.

Massive marches and protests are planned throughout Washington Monday, and activists in St. Louis have planned a protest at the Department of Justice building there.

Protest leaders have said they plan to push for legislation to require all officers to wear body cameras, as well as measures that would require all departments to report details of any officer-related shootings and that would make police personnel files public records, though they remain skeptical that these reforms will be enacted.

News of Monday's White House meetings drew mixed reaction from activists in Ferguson, many of whom had initially hoped for a visit from President Obama himself in the early days following the shooting. Attorney General Eric Holder traveled to the town instead.

Many of these activists had interpreted Holder's early comments about ensuring justice to mean that the Justice Department would bring civil rights charges against Wilson. A series of media reports has since revealed that civil rights charges against Wilson are viewed as highly unlikely.

“Where has [President Obama] been all of these months?" said one Ferguson activist Monday. "And now he wants to have a meeting? Please.”

Some of those who had attended the September meeting with the White House also remained skeptical of whether more meetings would yield real results.

“They told us they wanted to know how they could help,” said one attendee. “But after that they did nothing. They sent one email.”

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — The 16-person panel chosen by Missouri's governor to help find long-term solutions after the Ferguson police shooting is meeting for the first time Monday.

The Ferguson Commission's first session is largely an organizational one. The public was given a period of time to comment. Many residents vented frustration, saying the commission does not represent the community.

The panel includes a Ferguson construction supply company owner, two pastors, a university professor, two attorneys, a 20-year-old community activist and a St. Louis police detective who is also president of the state chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Two of its members are in Washington Monday meeting with President Obama.

The commission's is studying the underlying social and economic conditions underscored by sometimes violent unrest following the early August shooting of Michael Brown by Ferguson officer Darren Wilson.

The daily life of the black minorities is just heart wrenching. They wake up each morning wondering how they are going to survive another day,

On the first of the month they wait at their mailbox waiting for the mailman to show up and deliver their twelve hundred dollar section eight check so they can take it to the low income apt complex office and pay the twenty dollar difference for another month of living there. They carefully look over their utility bills to make sure they get their discounts before paying the highly discounted utility bills. They go to the wireless store and hand over the government voucher to pay their cell phone bill. If they have not received their voucher they ignore their cell phone bill and continue to use the phone until its get disconnected, they usually owe around $400 before the carrier shuts off.

They keep in contact with each other on their smart phones to see if any grocery stores computer system is down so they can all rush there to charge as much as possible on their EBT card before the system comes back up. If there isn’t any possibilities for that they drive over to walmart for their weekly shopping spree to fill their carts with all kinds of groceries. A quick glance at the regular checkout lines with white people patiently waiting in them and it’s to the express line to check out. That ten-item limit is not for them, only white people. So they pay for all these groceries with the government debit card.

Next on the list of free benefits are their new obamacare ID cards. With the instructions that came with them to take them to any doctors office or emergency room for FREE priority medical treatment. (Including prescriptions)
A call to the school to make sure their kids are receiving their free school lunches and supplies rounds off the busy afternoon.

Thanksgiving and the holidays is a very stressful time of year for them. Waiting in long lines fighting and
jostling with each other for the free turkeys and canned food that they demand so that they can celebrate the Great American Holiday.

At Christmas time they watch the local TV stations to find out what church or organizations are giving away free gifts for them. Waiting again in the long lines they put all the free bicycles and toys in their cars and pickup trucks with the 24 inch chrome rims and $1500 stereos and tinted windows and head home to wrap them up and give them to their deprived kids..

The black minorities feel sorry for the white American middle class that have to work and pay full price for everything they have, Going without because of the tax’s they pay to fund all there benefits, so they laugh as they say a prayer at dinner time for them thanking them for their generosity and giving them everything they want to appease them. Yet they still insist that white people are racist and close their eyes to the rioting and killing in their own neighborhoods and ancestral homeland of Africa where they cannot blame white people for their riots and mass murders and the decay of their towns and cities.

They are not able to look themselves in the mirror and ask the simple question, Why are we so destructive?

Why do we hate every other race? Why do we have to destroy all that is orderly? What is wrong with us? We are given everything we need to live here without doing anything and yet we still hate and destroy. No African nation takes care of us as well as white people do. Only white people give us what they need to live for free.

So they convince themselves that it has to be some other races fault for the way they are and use any excuses to riot and loot and destroy there own neighborhoods whenever a white person says or does anything to them. They ignore the fact that not only are we forced to support them here but we have to come to their races rescue every ten to fifteen years when there is a famine or emergency in there homeland of Africa, where they do not know what to do but just sit there and starve and have babies while waiting for the white nations to ship them food, There is not one nation on this planet that has a majority black population that has a welfare program for white people living in those nations and yet they riot and loot and call white racist.

Desegregation was the biggest mistake in the history of this nation. They wanted integration to feel equal and so the law was passed, Affirmative action and the ACLU forces us to include one of them in each TV commercial and on a news or sports broadcasting team and at your place of work, it also requires us to promote them regardless of job performance and so on, and now they have universities where only they can attend and they have their very own heritage month where we are forced to watch and listen to what a wonderful race they are. The once nice schools where they have been admitted have been reduced to combat zones and the schools GPA’s are non-existent. They are not able to spell or write their own names at graduation. After destroying the school system in their town or city they claim they are not being given an education and demand to be bussed to a predominantly white school where they destroy that school system. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent over the years on the inner cities, building parks, community centers, schools to help them succeed and they destroy them. Nothing satisfies this race.

And nothing ever will……

Trying to Breathe in These "Post-Racial" United States

It was 1984, and I was in love for the first time in my little life. We had met at a dance, and for a few magnificent weeks we drowned in each other's waters in the way you can only do at that sapling age. She was incandescent, hilarious, beautiful, funny and whip-smart, and I plumbed the depths of my barely-there personality just to keep up. She was wonderful.

And she was Black, and on the day of the Boston Marathon that year, I was walking down Commonwealth Avenue with my arm around her, and a car cruised by filled with a pile of upperclassmen from the school I attended, and the car slowed, and the faces in the windows were all turned my way, and they were a thunderstorm, a caricature of disgust and revulsion and rage and hate. She didn't see it. I did, but I didn't fully realize what was coming.

The day after, back at school, those upperclassmen formed a pack and swarmed me. There was a dress code, so I enjoyed the experience of being pummeled by large people in Navy blue sportcoats, felt their blows raining down while their terrible 1980s ties dangled in my face, and all the while they screamed, "Did you f--k that ni---r? Did you f--k that ni---r? Did you dip your wick? Did you?" as the fists flew.

The experience was profoundly formative. I was a boy when that happened, when merely being in the presence of a Black person was cause for violence, and this was in the "enlightened" Northeast. I understood much more about my country the day after than I'd ever known the day before.

It happened thirty years ago, and we all like to believe in the concept of progress, but Michael Brown is dead today with no consequences, and Eric Garner is dead today with no consequences, and cops send wildly racists texts back and forth to each other stoking their hatred for the Black men who get shot down.

Which leads to this:

In July, New York police officer Daniel Pantaleo choked unarmed black man Eric Garner to death, in broad daylight, while a bystander caught it on video. That is what American police do. Yesterday, despite the video, despite an NYPD prohibition of exactly the sort of chokehold Pantaleo used, and despite the New York City medical examiner ruling the death a homicide, a Staten Island grand jury declined even to indict Pantaleo. That is what American grand juries do.

In August, Ferguson, Mo., police officer Darren Wilson shot unarmed black teenager Michael Brown to death in broad daylight. That is what American police do. Ten days ago, despite multiple eyewitness accounts and his own face contradicting Wilson's narrative of events, a grand jury declined to indict Wilson. That is what American grand juries do.

In November 2006, a group of five New York police officers shot unarmed black man Sean Bell to death in the early morning hours of his wedding day. That is what American police do. In April 2008, despite multiple eyewitness accounts contradicting the officers' accounts of the incident, Justice Arthur J. Cooperman acquitted the officers of all charges, including reckless endangerment. That is what American judges do.

In February of 1999, four plainclothes New York police officers shot unarmed black man Amadou Diallo to death outside of his home. That is what American police do. A year later, an Albany jury acquitted the officers of all charges, including reckless endangerment. That is what American juries do.

I don't have the answers. When I was a boy, I dared to date a Black girl who was a joy, and was thrashed for it. I had the sad, silly thought that things might have changed in the intervening decades. Thirty years later, however, hyper-weaponized police forces are laying unarmed Black men low left and right, and because prosecutors have to work with cops every day, they are loath to spend the requisite energy required to gain a grand jury conviction for a cop who cuts a man down in the street for no reason anyone can adequately explain.

Eric Garner was murdered by a clot of police officers on a public street in broad daylight for the crime of selling individual cigarettes. Michael Brown was cut down by a police officer who, based on the preponderance of evidence collected by that particularly ludicrous grand jury, panicked and shot an unarmed teenager to death, and that teenager's body was left to lie in the street for hours, and hours. The Medical Examiner, by his own testimony, did not photograph the body because he claimed the batteries in his camera died.

Res ipsa loquitor. The thing speaks for itself.

Hank Johnson, the Democratic Representative from Georgia's 4th district, took to the floor of the House to deliver a cry for simple justice that must resound in the halls of history for as long as memory exists:

Men and boys killed by police.

I can't breathe.

Impunity for the killers-no justice, no peace.

I can't breathe.

Militarized police met peaceful protesters on their knees.

I can't breathe.

Weapons of war-a show of force on our streets.

I can't breathe.

Disenfranchised youth driven to violence as speech.

I can't breathe.

Cynical media think this makes great TV.

I can't breathe.

This cowardly Congress afraid of losing our seats.

I can't breathe.

Half-hearted reform when there's more that we need.

I can't breathe.

Just thinking about the despair that this breeds.

More than 120 international figures have warned of an increasing risk of nuclear war amid global tensions and insecure stockpiles, calling for urgent action to minimize the threat.

The warning came in a letter published on Monday signed by senior military, political and diplomatic figures from around the world.

“Tensions between nuclear-armed states and alliances in the Euro-Atlantic area and in both South and East Asia remain ripe with the potential for military miscalculation and escalation,” the letter read.

“We believe the risks posed by nuclear weapons and the international dynamics that could lead to nuclear weapons being used are underestimated or insufficiently understood by world leaders,” the letter added.

The letter, which was addressed to Sebastian Kurz, Austria’s minister for foreign affairs, was signed by John McColl, the former NATO deputy supreme allied commander in Europe; David Richards, the ex-chief of the British defense staff; and American General James Cartwright, a former vice-chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, among others.

The figures also warned of a growing risk of a nuclear accident, as too many nuclear weapons across the globe “remain ready to launch on short notice.”

The signatories called for better crisis management in “conflict hotspots” and new security measures, as there are nuclear stockpiles, which are “insufficiently secure, making them possible targets for terrorism.”

The letter was published ahead of the start of a conference titled The Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

According to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, more than 16,000 nuclear warheads remain in the possession of nine nations (the United States, Russia, Britain, France, China, Israel, India, Pakistan, and North Korea).

The US along with Russia holds the largest nuclear arsenals in the world. Washington is reportedly planning to spend more than USD 1 trillion to modernize its nuclear weapons over the next three decades.

US waging war against African-Americans: Analyst

A political analyst says the ruling system in the US has launched a war against the African-American community in the country.

Herdosia Bentum, an activist, said in an interview with Press TV from St. Louis in eastern Missouri that the ongoing killings of black people at the hands of white US policemen were “obviously a war on African community.”

“The system is broken and it doesn’t work in our (the black community’s) favor,” she added.

She said that it would be “insane” for blacks to put their trust in the US police or other institutions because “the system was never designed” for them.

She strongly criticized the US elite class and the whole system for disregarding the blacks as “slaves” and violating their basic rights.

The analyst sought a united response and protest rallies against the ongoing racial killings and police brutality.

Bentum also blamed US President Barack Obama for inaction over the ongoing shootings of the people of color.

Several rallies have been held in dozens of American cities, including New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami and Minneapolis, over racial profiling across the United States.

An unprecedented level of shootings and killings of blacks has taken place during the tenure of a first African-American US president, Bentum stated.

Earlier, a grand jury decided not to indict a white New York City police officer who had choked unarmed black man Eric Garner to death in July.

The decision triggered anger among African-Americans, who had already been demonstrating against the fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson in August and another jury’s decision not to press charges against the shooter in Brown’s case.

PARIS (CBS/AP) — Thousands of Holocaust survivors and family members in the United States and elsewhere will be entitled to compensation from a $60 million French-U.S. fund announced Friday, as reparations to those deported by France’s state rail company SNCF during the Nazi occupation.

As part of the deal, the U.S. government will work to end lawsuits and other compensation claims in U.S. courts against the SNCF, which is bidding for lucrative high-speed rail and other contracts in U.S. markets. State legislators in Maryland, New York, Florida and California have tried to punish SNCF for its Holocaust-era actions.

“This is another measure of justice for the harms of one of history’s darkest eras,” said U.S. Special Adviser on Holocaust Issues Stuart Eizenstat, who spent three years working with French officials on the agreement.

The French Foreign Ministry and U.S. State Department announced an accord Friday for the compensation fund, which will be financed by the French government and managed by the United States. The agreement will be signed on Monday in Washington, but for the money to be authorized it still must get approval from the French Parliament, which could take months.

The French government has already paid more than $6 billion in reparations — but only to French citizens and certain deportees. The new deal will allow compensation for Americans, Israelis and some others who were not eligible for other French reparations programs.

There are around 250 people in the U.S. who are eligible under the new fund as direct survivors or spouses, according to an advocacy group, but several thousand may be eligible as heirs to survivors or spouses who died between 1948 and today.

The money should break down to about $100,000 each for survivors, and tens of thousands of dollars for spouses, Eizenstat said.

SNCF transported about 76,000 French Jews to Nazi concentration camps, though experts disagree on its degree of guilt. SNCF has expressed regret for what happened, but argues that it had no effective control over operations during the Nazi occupation from 1940 to 1944.

Although SNCF is not a party to the agreement, the company will contribute $4 million over the next five years to fund Holocaust memorials and museums in the U.S., Israel and France, according to Eizenstat.

The French government pledged to encourage French lawmakers to approve the deal, Eizenstat said.

“The objective today was to be able to provide reparations — even 70 years later — that they could claim, given the trauma, the barbarity and the horror that the deportation represented for them,” said Patrizianna Sparacino-Thiellay, a French ambassador for human rights and spoliation, who was a key negotiator and architect of the deal.

Amid the legal challenges to SNCF, Eizenstat said the French approached him two years ago to talk about a possible deal, and expressed a desire to conclude an agreement by the end of this year.

The French government is holding several events marking 70 years since the Allies liberated France from Nazi control in 1944.

Word of the accord comes as France, home to western Europe’s largest Jewish community, is battling new concerns about anti-Semitism. French authorities and Jewish leaders denounced a rape and robbery attack with anti-Semitic overtones this week against a French couple.

The number of anti-Semitic incidents in France has grown 91 percent this year compared to last year, according to CRIF, France’s leading Jewish organization. Incidents such as graffiti on Jewish gravestones and violent assaults spiked around the Gaza war this summer, and Jewish groups are concerned about rising Islamic extremism and the resurgent far right.

U.S. Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney of New York, who had pushed to get the U.S. government to pressure the French government to agree to compensation, hailed the deal as a “breakthrough in a decades-long struggle for justice.”

Should Someone Pay for One of the Biggest Crimes Ever? -- Reparations for Slavery

Imagine someone has stolen freedom, time, and labor from you, and hurt you and your family terribly. That person should have to pay, right? Now imagine that crime happened to millions of people, over the course of centuries. Should someone have to pay? Who? NOW imagine that the worst and most provable part of the crime was committed so many years ago that the people directly hurt by it, and all the people who directly committed it, are dead. Who pays whom? How much?

These are some of the hard questions that come up about the possibility of paying reparations -- a kind of debt payment -- for slavery.

People who argue for reparations point out that the value of the work done by African slaves in America is more than $1.4 trillion dollars. That's a lot of stolen wealth. They also point out that the effects of slavery continue in very real ways. Segregation and discrimination, all of the vast social and economic harm done by racism against African Americans from slavery to the present, continue to cramp African Americans' lives and opportunities. African Americans still endure huge social and economic inequities. While the proportion of all Americans living in poverty in 1999 was about 12 per cent, the proportion of African Americans living in poverty was about 30 per cent.

In recent years, the United States has paid reparations to Japanese-Americans who were put in "internment camps" during World War II. Because the U.S. was at war with the Japanese, the government identified all people of Japanese descent living in the U.S. as threats to national security. The government took Japanese-Americans' houses, businesses and property and took the people themselves to what amounted to concentrations camps, where many were held prisoner for years. Finally, after more than fifty years, the U.S has established a plan for those paying back who were robbed and imprisoned.

Of course, no amount of money can repay someone for such an injustice, especially after so many years -- imagine getting money to replace a home or business when you're old and grey! But reparations to Japanese-Americans at least acknowledge the crimes of the past and make a gesture of repayment. Many in the Japanese-American community say they have found a kind of peace or "closure" after receiving reparations.

Similarly, Germany has started making payments to those who were imprisoned in concentration camps in the Nazi holocaust against Jews, and to the immediate families of those who died in concentration camps.

In a book called The Debt: What America Owes to Blacks, the human rights advocate Randall Robinson argues that like Japanese-American "internees" and Jewish holocaust survivors and their families, African Americans should get reparations for the crimes of the past. It's not too late, he argues, to pay for some of the enormous harm of the past and the present. Despite the fact that actual slaves and slave owners are all dead, he argues that "the injury survives the victim." After all, he suggests, it's the U.S. government that bears responsibility for the laws that made slavery possible, and it's the U.S. government -- not individuals -- that should pay.

Randall Robinson and a growing movement of folks propose that Congress should hold hearings to establish the need for reparations for slavery and to figure out how much should be paid, and how. Democratic Representative John Conyers, Jr. has introduced a bill that, if passed, would spend $8 million to figure out whether and how reparations can be made to African Americans. Democratic Representative Joh Myers has introduced a similar, $3 million bill to study the possibility of reparations by the state of Pennsylvania, noting that William Penn and the Quakers who founded the state were slave owners.

Of course, not everyone agrees that the U.S. government should make financial reparations for slavery. Some people argue that in the cases of interned Japanese-Americans or Jewish holocaust survivors, the people harmed or their immediate family members are still around to be paid, whereas everyone directly involved in slavery is dead. Some suggest that the idea of poor non-black Americans helping to pay for the government's reparations to those African Americans who are now financially well-off doesn't make any sense. Some suggest that reparations based on race alone would increase racial divisions and tensions.

What do you think?

Meanwhile, a firm named Michael Marshall architecture is pointing out that in Washington, D.C. there are museums devoted to holocaust victims and Native Americans -- but none for African Americans. The firm has designed a complex of buildings devoted to African American traditions from slavery until today. They'd like to call the museum the Frederick Douglass Center, after the famous American slave-turned abolitionist. Michael Marshall, president of the architecture firm, argues: "We need a significant, graceful world-class structure that tells our story in the nation's capital, just as similar structures tell otherAmerican stories on the Mall. Our children need a sense of their place in history, told from our vantage point, from our unique perspective."

Whether or not the government pays -- or should pay -- reparations for slavery, such a museum in Washington would help affirm African Americans' central place in American history and culture.

West Germany's Holocaust Payoff
to Israel and World Jewry

By Mark Weber

The passions and propaganda of wartime normally diminish with the passage of time. A striking exception is the Holocaust campaign, which seems to grow more pervasive and intense as the years go by. Certainly the most lucrative expression of this seemingly endless campaign has been West Germany's massive and historically unparalleled reparations payoff to Israel and world Jewry for the alleged collective sins of the German people during the Hitler era. Between 1953 and 1992, the Federal Republic of (West) Germany paid out more than $35 billion in reparations to the Zionist state and to millions of individual "victims of National Socialism."

How did this remarkable program get started? How lucrative has it been? What does it suggest about the "six million" figure? And what are its social and political implications?

Bowing to pressure

In September 1945, shortly after the end of the Second World War, Jewish leader Chaim Weizmann submitted a memorandum on behalf of the Zionist Jewish Agency to the governments of the United States, the Soviet Union, Britain and France "demanding" (in the words of the Encydopaedia Judaica) "reparations, restitution and indemnification due to the Jewish people from Germany" The western Allies lost no time in responding favorably to Weizmann's demands. /1 The American government was particularly eager to have the Germans pay up. /2 As a result, the German government set up by the western Allies at Bonn in 1949 never had any real choice but to acknowledge the alleged collective guilt of the German people during the Hitler era and pay what was demanded.

Indeed, a major provision of the treaty of May 1952 by which the United States, Britain and France granted "sovereignty" to the Federal Republic of (West) Germany obligated the new state to make restitution. /3 West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer laid the emotional and psychological groundwork for the reparations program when he solemnly declared to the Bundestag on September 27, 1951:

The Federal government and the great majority of the German people are deeply aware of the immeasurable suffering endured by the Jews of Germany and by the Jews of the occupied territories during the period of National Socialism ... In our name, unspeakable crimes have been committed and they demand restitution, both moral and material, for the persons and properties of the Jews who have been so seriously harmed ...

Adenauer went on to promise speedy conclusion of restitution and indemnity laws and announced that reparations negotiations would begin soon. Accordingly, delegations representing the Bonn government, the State of Israel and an ad hoc organization of Jewish groups began talks in the Netherlands in March 1952.

The representative of the Jewish organizations was the "Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, Inc." or "Claims Conference," a body formed for the sole purpose of demanding maximum reparations from the German people. The 20 member organizations represented Jews in the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Argentina, Australia and South Africa. Jews in the Soviet Union, eastern Europe and the Arab countries were not represented. /4

The West German government was under pressure to conclude quickly a reparations agreement satisfactory to the Jews. In his memoirs, Chancellor Adenauer wrote:

It was clear to me that, if the negotiations with the Jews failed, the negotiations at the London Debt Conference [which were going on at the same time] would also run aground, because Jewish banking circles would exert an influence upon the course of the London Debt Conference which should not be under-estimated. On the other hand it was self-evident that a failure of the London Debt Conference would bring about a failure of the negotiations with the Jews. If the German economy was to achieve a good credit standing and become strong again, the London Conference would have to be ended successfully. Only then would our economy develop in a way that would make the payments to Israel and the Jewish organizations possible. /5

Zionist leader Nahum Goldmann, President of the World Jewish Congress and chairman of the Claims Conference, warned of a worldwide campaign against Germany if the Bonn officials did not meet the Zionist demands: "The non-violent reaction of the whole world, supported by wide circles of non-Jews, who have deep sympathy with the martyrdom of the Jewish people during the Nazi period, would be irresistible and completely justified." /6 The London Jewish Observer was more blunt: "The whole material weight of world Jewry will be mobilized for an economic war against Germany, if Bonn's offer of reparations remains unsatisfactory." /7

The talks culminated in the Luxembourg Agreement, which was signed on September 10, 1952 by West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, Israeli Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett and World Jewish Congress President Nahum Goldmann.

A Legal Novelty

This agreement between the West German government, on the one hand, and the Israeli state and the Claims Conference, on the other, was historically unprecedented and had no basis or counterpart in international law. For one thing, the State of Israel did not exist at the time of the actions for which restitution was paid. Moreover, the Claims Conference had no legal authority to negotiate and act on behalf of Jews who were citizens of sovereign countries. Jews were represented in an internationally recognized treaty with a foreign state not by the governments of the countries of which they were citizens, but rather by a supranational and sectarian Jewish organization.

It was as if the Catholic citizens of the United States had allowed themselves to be represented in a treaty with a foreign government not by the U. S. government, but rather by some ad hoc supranational Catholic organization or by the Vatican. The Luxembourg Agreement thus legally implied that Jews everywhere, regardless of their citizenship, constitute a distinct and separate national group and that world Jewry was a formal party to the Second World War. /8

Nahum Goldmann, a co-signer of the Agreement, was one of the most important Jewish figures of this century. From 1951 to 1978, he was president of the World Jewish Congress, and from 1956 to 1958, he was also president of the World Zionist Organization. In his autobiography, Goldmann recalled his role in the negotiations and the remarkable nature of the agreement:

My negotiations with German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and his associates, which culminated in the Luxembourg Agreement of 1952, make up one of the most exciting and successful chapters of my political career.

There hardly was a precedent for persuading a state to assume moral responsibility and make large-scale compensation for crimes committed against an unorganized ethnic group lacking sovereign status. There was no basis in international law for the collective Jewish claims ... /9

In a 1976 interview, Goldmann said that the agreement "constituted an extraordinary innovation in the matter of international rights" and he boasted that he had obtained 10 to 14 times more from the Bonn government than he had originally expected. /10

The Payoff for Israel

The agreement meant economic security for the new Zionist state, as Goldmann explained in his autobiography:

What the Luxembourg Agreement meant to Israel is for the historians of the young state to determine. That the goods Israel received from Germany were a decisive economic factor in its development is beyond doubt. I do not know what economic dangers might have threatened Israel at critical moments if it had not been for German supplies. Railways and telephones, dock installations and irrigation plants, whole areas of industry and agriculture, would not be where they are today without the reparations from Germany. And hundreds of thousands of Jewish victims of Nazism have received considerable sums under the law of restitution. /11

Goldman said in 1976:

Without the German reparations, the State of Israel would not have the half of its present infrastructure: every train in Israel is German, the ships are German, as well as the electricity, a large part of the industry ... without mentioning the individual pensions paid to the survivors ... In certain years, the amount of money received by Israel from Germany exceeds the total amount of money collected from international Jewry-two or three times as much. /12

As a result of the West German reparations program, wrote Jewish historian Walter Laqueur:

The ships laden with German capital goods began to call at Haifa regularly and unfailingly, becoming an important -- ultimately a decisive -- factor in the building up of the country. Today [1965] the Israeli fleet is almost entirely "made in Germany," as are its modern railway equipment, the big steel foundry near Acre, and many other enterprises. During the 50's and early 60's about one-third of investment goods imported into Israel came from Germany ... In addition to all this, many individual Israelis received restitution privately. /13

It is difficult to exaggerate the impact of the program: the five power plants built and installed by West Germany between 1953 and 1956 quadrupled Israel's electric-power-generating capacity. West Germans laid 280 kilometers of giant pipelines (2.25 and 2.5 meters in diameter) for the irrigation of the Negev (which certainly helped to "make the desert bloom"). The Zionist state acquired 65 German- built ships, including four passenger vessels. /14

Payments to Individuals

West German reparations have been paid out through several different programs, including the Federal Indemnification (or Compensation) Law (BEG), the Federal Restitution Law (BReuG), the Israel Agreement, and special agreements with 12 foreign countries (including Austria). /15 By far the most important of these has been the BEG indemnification law, which was first enacted in 1953 and revised in 1956 and 1965. It was based on a compensation law promulgated earlier in the American zone of occupation.

In the words of a background article about the reparations program that appeared in a 1985 issue of Focus On, an official publication of the Bonn government, the BEG laws "compensate those persecuted for political, racial, religious or ideological reasons-people who suffered physical injury or loss of freedom, property, income, professional and financial advancement as a result of that persecution." It also "guarantees assistance to the survivors of the deceased victims." /16

The BEG compensation law defined "persecution" and "loss of freedom" very liberally. It stipulated payments for Jews who had simply been required to wear the yellow star, even in Croatia, where the measure was ordered by non-Germans. Payments were also ordered for any Jew who was ever in a concentration camp, including the one in Shanghai, China, which was never under German control. The BEG law authorized payments to any Jew who was ever arrested, no matter what the reason. This meant that even Jews who were taken into custody for criminal acts were entitled to German "compensation" for "loss of freedom." /17

The 1965 revision of the BEG specified that Germany was to be held accountable for measures taken by Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary as early as April 1941, if these actions had deprived the victims of all their freedom. The fact that these countries acted against the Jews in 1941 independently of Germany did not matter. /18

Significantly, the many Jewish survivors living in the Soviet Union and the other Communist countries of eastern Europe were not covered by West Germany's BEG compensation program. /19 And, of course, Jewish "Holocaust survivors" who died before the West German compensation law (BEG) was enacted in 1953 or before it really became effective in 1956 also never received BEG restitution money.

By the end of 1980, a German government agency reported, the number of successful claims was 4,344,378, with payments reaching 50.18 billion German marks. About 40 percent of the claimants lived in Israel, some 20 percent were living in West Germany, and 40 percent elsewhere. /20 The Focus On article cited above noted that between October 1953 and the end of December 1983, the West German government paid out 56.3 billion marks on a total of 4,390,049 claims from individuals under the BEG legislation. /21

Nevertheless, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution stated in 1985 that about half of the Jewish "survivors" in the world have never received reparations money. "An estimated 50 percent" of the Holocaust "survivors throughout the world are on West German pensions," the newspaper reported. /22 In addition to survivors in Communist countries who are not entitled to West German compensation, the paper reported that many Jewish survivors living in the United States have never received reparations money. The paper found that 79 percent of the Jewish "Holocaust survivors" living in the Atlanta area had, at one time or another, asked the Bonn government for restitution. About 66 percent received something.

About 40 percent of those receiving BEG compensation money live in Israel, the Focus On article reported, while 20 percent live in West Germany and 40 percent live in other countries. /23 It would thus appear that about 80 percent, or 3.5 million, of the 4.39 million claims are from Jews.

Although the number of BEG compensation claims is larger than the number of individual claimants, it is nevertheless difficult to reconcile these figures with the legendary "six million" Jewish wartime dead, particularly since at least half of the world's Jewish "survivors" never received German compensation.

The Luxembourg Agreement obligated the West German government to pay three billion German marks to the State of Israel and 450 million marks to various Jewish organizations. Accordingly, the West German Finance Minister announced in 1953 that he expected that the reparations payments would eventually total four billion marks. Time would prove this a ludicrous underestimate. /24

By 1963, the German people had already paid out 20 billion marks, and by 1984 the total had risen to 70 billion. /25 In late 1987 the West German parliament approved an additional 300 million marks in "restitution to the victims of National Socialist crimes." The Bonn government announced at that time the 80 billion marks had already been paid out and estimated that by the year 2020 the payoff would total 100 billion marks which, at recent exchange rates, would be the equivalent of $50 billion. /26

Although the West German reparations program is accepted and often praised in the democratic West, it is also, at least implicitly, strikingly undemocratic in two fundamental respects:

First, it regards Jews not as equal and fully integrated citizens of whatever country they live in, but rather primarily as members of an alien and cosmopolitan national group.

Second, it is based on the premise that the German nation, including even the Germans who grew up since 1945, is collectively guilty of terrible crimes, contrary to the democratic notion of individual responsibility for crime.

West Germany's lucrative and historically unparalleled payoff to Israel and world Jewry is a legacy and permanent reminder of Germany's catastrophic defeat in 1945 and subsequent domination by foreign powers.

The White Conversation on Race

With the national uproar surrounding the unpunished police killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, some white Americans say they are rethinking the lack of diversity in their lives—and the work they need to do to help create social change that lasts.

Take Philadelphia artist Katherine Fritz. In her attempt to understand events in Ferguson, she stumbled upon a 2013 national survey finding that white American social circles tend to be 91 percent white. Intrigued, she tested this finding in her own life. A self-described liberal who uses the term “micro-aggressions,” she was surprised to find that her social circle is 91.5 percent white.

“Whites can live, love, study, work, play and die in segregation,” says “Whiteness Studies” scholar Robin DiAngelo, “and still profess that race has no meaning in their lives.”

But something appears to be shifting in that in the weeks since news broke that there’d be no indictment in Officer Darren Wilson’s case. Dara Silverman of Showing Up for Racial Justice {SURJ}, a six-year-old national network organizing whites for racial justice, is now managing conference calls with up to 500 new callers from around the country. In coming weeks, they’re planning more than 50 white-led demonstrations that’ll take place in largely white communities. “This is unprecedented,” Silverman says of the upsurge of interest.

Intentional conversations about racism—by whites, for whites and not of the KKK variety—are happening across the country. I spoke with a few community leaders about why it’s important that whites talk race and racism with one another and how those intra-group conversations could be better. Everyone has a different approach; what follows isn’t exhaustive or one-size-fits-all. And, no, un-friending people on Facebook didn’t make the Do list.

‘Deal With the Upset’

For white people who’re trying to understand why their reactions to race conversations are so fraught, DiAngelo’s concept of “white fragility,” is one way to get there. Although coined in a 2011 journal article, the term came into popular use this July in Seattle to describe whites’ inability to bear even civil criticism of a production featuring Japanese characters played by an all-white cast.

DiAngelo says that’s because white Americans live in spaces that protect them from race-based stress, “so we just fall apart around [the slightest] challenge to our racial reality.” She continues, “The average white person who notices some racism [from another white person] won’t say anything and that’s because we don’t want to deal with the upset.”

Amy Hunter is an African-American woman who four years ago founded a whites-only “Witnessing Whiteness” discussion group at her St. Louis YWCA. She says she’s busier than ever now. But she operates from the premise that “white people have conversations all the time that are racist”—and her groups are grounded in the same idea. Led for nine weeks by white facilitators, the groups examine how racism works in each participant’s life and then they work on unlearning it with their families and in their churches, neighborhoods and workplaces.

“The real goal of the groups is that they go back out into the white community and work with people who look like them. That is the intent,” Hunter says. “We have people who’re now holding race conversations in their churches. We’ve seen the impact be pretty positive.”

It’s Your Problem, Not Theirs

SURJ members often engage in direct action around issues affecting communities of color in their home cities. “We’ve been hearing from people of color in Ferguson that it’s exhausting to constantly be educating white people,” Silverman says. So with the recent surge in new members, Silverman says that it’s important to pair “white people who’ve been working on and thinking about race with those who haven’t been. They help prepare them.”

Also, Silverman adds, “I have racism within me. I have thoughts that are racist. Forgive the metaphor but sometimes racism is like vomit. You can’t hold it back—and it’s so much better to do that with another white person than with a person of color and having them clean it up.”

One of Katherine Fritz’s close friends is Mormon and she lives in a “small, very white” community in Illinois. “I think her definition of ‘racist’ was confined to the history books—like, ‘A racist is someone who wears a white hood and is overt in their hatred,’ ” she says via e-mail. “I shared Kiese Laymon’s recent [Vassar College] piece with her and I think it was a really eye-opening experience. She posted it on her Facebook page and it made me feel like, ‘Wow, Okay. She heard [his] voice, she learned something.’ I think, this was partly a result of the discussion we’ve been having,” says Fritz, who had been educating her friend about systemic racism.

“Bad” White People Won’t Just Disappear

For whites, DiAngelo says, “A racist is a bad person. Racism becomes about individual acts by individual people who’re bad.” So “good” whites tend to self-segregate from “bad” whites.

But “dividing yourself between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ whites isn’t progress,” says Hunter. Echoing a recent Huffington Post plea, she strongly discourages un-friending on Facebook because of the Michael Brown/Darren Wilson case. “I have no doubt Darren Wilson’s a good guy,” Hunter says she recently told a group of high-school students. “What I’m trying to change is the system where he’s been trained to unload his clip. What I’m trying to change is a system that says big black people are scary and you need to handle them a certain way. Darren Wilson did exactly what he was trained to do.” Hunter’s focus is on helping whites to change each other’s beliefs and patterns—n ot in perpetuating more separation in an already segregated country.

Silverman says whites need to step it up: “We want to move towards white people who’re trying to figure things out—even if that means we get a bit of their vomit on us,” Silverman says. “People of color get vomited on with this shit all the time. It’s our responsibility to step it up and show up even in those spaces where it’s hard and uncomfortable. That’s the work.”

The New Republic: An Appreciation

It is impossible to avoid the conclusion that black lives didn't matter much at all to the magazine.

Ta-Nehisi Coates

The Atlantic

"Here's at you!"

—Philip Sheridan

Last week, Franklin Foer resigned his editorship of The New Republic. A deep, if not broad, mourning immediately commenced as a number of influential writers lamented what occurred to them as the passing of a great American institution. The mourners have something of a case. TNR had a hand in the careers of an outsized number of prominent narrative and opinion journalists. I have never quite been able to judge the effect of literature or journalism on policy, but I know that in my field, if you had dreams of having a career, you had to contend with TNR. My first editor at The Atlantic came from TNR, as did the editor of the entire magazine. More than any other writer, TNR alum Andrew Sullivan taught me how to think publicly. More than any other opinion writer, Hendrik Hertzberg taught me how to write with "thickness," as I once heard him say. A semester in my nonfiction class is never quite complete without this piece by Michael Kinsley. TNR's legacy is so significant that I could never have avoided being drawn into the magazine's orbit. Even if I had wanted to.

Earlier this year, Foer edited an anthology of TNR writings titled Insurrections of the Mind, commemorating the magazine's 100-year history. "This book hasn't been compiled in the name of definitiveness," Foer wrote. "It was put together in the spirit of the magazine that it anthologizes: it is an argument about what matters." There is only one essay in Insurrections that takes race as its subject. The volume includes only one black writer and only two writers of color. This is not an oversight. Nor does it mean that Foer is a bad human. On the contrary, if one were to attempt to capture the "spirit" of TNR, it would be impossible to avoid the conclusion that black lives don't matter much at all.

That explains why the family rows at TNR's virtual funeral look like the "Whites Only" section of a Jim Crow-era movie-house. For most of its modern history, TNR has been an entirely white publication, which published stories confirming white people's worst instincts. During the culture wars of the '80s and '90s, TNR regarded black people with an attitude ranging from removed disregard to blatant bigotry. When people discuss TNR's racism, Andrew Sullivan's publication of excerpts from Charles Murray's book The Bell Curve (and a series of dissents) gets the most attention. But this fuels the lie that one infamous issue stands apart. In fact, the Bell Curve episode is remarkable for how well it fits with the rest of TNR's history.

The personal attitude of TNR's longtime owner, the bigoted Martin Peretz, should be mentioned here. Peretz's dossier of racist hits (mostly at the expense of blacks and Arabs) is shameful, and one does not have to look hard to find evidence of it in Peretz's writing or in the sensibility of the magazine during his ownership. In 1984, long before Sullivan was tapped to helm TNR, Charles Murray was dubbing affirmative action a form of "new racism" that targeted white people.

Two years later, Washington Post writer Richard Cohen was roundly rebuked for advocating that D.C. jewelry stores discriminate against young black men—but not by TNR. The magazine took the opportunity to convene a panel to "reflect briefly" on whether it was moral for merchants to bar black men from their stores. ("Expecting a jewelry store owner to risk his life in the service of color-blind justice is expecting too much," the magazine concluded.)

TNR made a habit of "reflecting briefly" on matters that were life and death to black people but were mostly abstract thought experiments to the magazine's editors. Before, during, and after Sullivan's tenure, the magazine seemed to believe that the kind of racism that mattered most was best evidenced in the evils of Afrocentrism, the excesses of multiculturalism, and the machinations of Jesse Jackson. It's true that TNR's staff roundly objected to excerpting The Bell Curve, but I was never quite sure why. Sullivan was simply exposing the dark premise that lay beneath much of the magazine's coverage of America's ancient dilemma.

What else to make of the article that made Stephen Glass's career possible, "Taxi Cabs and the Meaning of Work"? The piece asserted that black people in D.C. were distinctly lacking in the work ethic best evidenced by immigrant cab drivers. A surrealist comedy, Glass's piece revels in the alleged exploits of a mythical Asian-American avenger—Kae Bang—who wreaks havoc on black criminals who'd rather rob taxi drivers than work. The article concludes with Glass, in the cab, while its driver is robbed by a black man. It was all lies.

What else to make of TNR sending Ruth Shalit to evaluate affirmative action at The Washington Post in 1995? "She cast Post writer Kevin Merida as some kind of poster boy for affirmative action when in fact he had risen in the business for reasons far more legitimate than her own," David Carr wrote in 1999. Shalit's piece wasn't all lies. But it wasn't all true either. Shortly after the article was published, she was revealed to be a serial plagiarist.

TNR might have been helped by having more—or merely any—black people on its staff. I spent the weekend calling around and talking to people who worked in the offices over the years. From what I can tell, in that period, TNR had a total of two black people on staff as writers or editors. When I asked former employees whether they ever looked around and wondered why the newsroom was so white, the answers ranged from "not really" to "not often enough." This is understandable. Prioritizing diversity would have been asking TNR to not be TNR. One person recalled a meeting at the magazine's offices when the idea of excerpting The Bell Curve was first pitched. Charles Murray came to this meeting to present his findings. The meeting was very contentious. I asked if there were any black people in the room this meeting. The person could not recall.

I always knew I could never work at TNR. In the latter portion of the magazine's heyday, in the mid-'90s, I was at Howard University with aspirations toward writing. Howard has a way of inculcating its students with a sense of mission. If you are going into writing, you understand that you are not a free agent, but the bearer of heritage walking in the steps of Hurston, Morrison, Baldwin, Wright, and Ellison. None of these writers appear in Insurrections of the Mind. Howard University taught me to be unsurprised by this. It also taught me that writing was war, and I knew, even then, that TNR represented much of what I was at war with. I knew that TNR's much celebrated "heterodoxy" was built on a strain of erudite neo-Dixiecratism. When The Bell Curve excerpt was published, one of my professors handed out the issue to every interested student. This was not a compliment. This was knowing your enemy.

TNR did not come to racism out of evil. Very few people ever do. Many of the white people working for the magazine were very young and very smart. This is always a dangerous combination. It must have been that much more dangerous given that their boss was a racist. (Though I am told he had many black friends and protégés.) Peretz was not always a regular presence in the office. This allowed TNR's saner staff to regard him as the crazy uncle who says racist shit at Thanksgiving. But Peretz was not a crazy uncle—he was the wealthy benefactor of an influential magazine that published ideas that damaged black people.

A writer for TNR told me how, in the mid-'90s, Peretz would come down to the office from Cambridge and lobby young writers to write what turned out to be the fictional "Taxi Cabs and the Meaning of Work." The writer told me that the young interns and fact-checkers would squirm in their seats. But no one took a stand. And perhaps it is too much to expect writers in their mid 20s, with editors in their late 20s, to say to Peretz, "Please stop shopping this racist bullshit." But the task was made infinitely easier by a monochrome staff that could view Peretz's racism as an abstraction, and not something that directly injured their families.

If TNR's influence and importance was as outsized as its advocates claim, then the import of its racist legacy is outsized in the same measure.

Things got better after Peretz was dislodged. The retrograde politics were gone, but the "Whites Only" sign remained. I've been told that Foer was greatly pained by Peretz's racism. I believe this. White people are often sincerely and greatly pained by racism, but rarely are they pained enough. That is not true because they are white, but because they are human. I know this, too well. Still, as of last week there were still no black writers on TNR's staff, and only one on its masthead. Magazines, in general, have an awful record on diversity. But if TNR's influence and importance was as outsized as its advocates claim, then the import of its racist legacy is outsized in the same measure. One cannot sincerely partake in heritage à la carte.

In this sense it is unfortunate to see anonymous staffers accusing TNR's owner Chris Hughes of trying to create "another BuzzFeed." If that is truly Hughes's ambition, then—in at least one important way—he will have created a publication significantly more moral than anything any recent TNR editor ever has. No publication has more aggressively dealt with diversity than BuzzFeed. And not unrelated to this diversity has been a stellar range of storytelling and analysis, that could rival—if not best—the journalism in the latest iteration of TNR.

No one who works in magazines is happy to hear about writers and editors losing their jobs—even when those people have the enviable luxury of walking out on principle. And when I think of TNR's history, when I flip through Insurrections, when I examine the magazine's archives, I am not so much angry as I am sad. There really was so much fine writing in its pages. But all my life I have had to take lessons from people who, in some profound way, cannot see me. TNR billed itself as the magazine for iconoclasts. But its iconoclasm ended exactly where everyone else's does—at 110th Street. Worse, TNR encouraged incuriosity about what lay beyond the barrier. It told its readers that my world was welfare cheats, affirmative-action babies, and Jesse Jackson. And that white people—or any people—would be urged to such ignorance by their Harvard-bre d intellectual leadership is deeply sad. The in-flight magazine of Air Force One should have been better. Perhaps it still can be.

[I have chosen the following article for documentation on the Christmas holiday that so many Christians break their necks to observe.  If people will be able to see that Christmas is a pagan holiday, then after researching further, it is possible that they might be able to understand that Christianity is also of pagan origin.  The Most High CREATOR GOD has not endorsed Christianity or Christmas.  The First Commandment explains it all quite clearly.  However, there are many passages that serve well to prove that under no circumstances will the CREATOR tolerate belief and worship in another god.  T.Y., Editor]

Christmas: Is it "Christian" or Pagan?

Lorraine Day, M.D.

The Bible does not tell us when Jesus was born. However, we know that the angels announced the birth of Christ to the Bethlehem shepherds in the open fields who were tending their flocks by night.. This fact certainly implies that the birth of Jesus could NOT have been on the 25th of December. "The cold of the night in Palestine between December and February is very piercing, and it was not customary for the shepherds of Judea to watch their flocks in the open fields later than about the end of October." Hislop, A., The Two Babylons, Loiseaux Brothers, Neptune, N.J. pg 91.

In addition, Jesus Himself said, in speaking of the coming destruction of Jerusalem,

"But pray that your flight be NOT in winter, neither on the Sabbathday."
Matt 24:20

Obviously, Jesus understood that the wintertime in Palestine was harsh enough to make traveling difficult and uncomfortable. If the winter was such a bad time in which to flee, it seems unlikely that the shepherds would be sleeping out in the fields while tending their sheep during that season.

Because of these facts, and others to be discussed, it is virtually impossible for the birth of Christ to have occurred on December 25.

"No such festival as Christmas was ever heard of until the THIRD century, and not until the FOURTH century was far advanced did it gain much observance.

"Long before the fourth century, and long before the Christian era itself, a festival was celebrated among the HEATHEN, at that precise time of the year, in honor oft the birth of the son of the Babylonian queen of heaven; and it may fairly be presumed that, in order to conciliate the heathen, and to swell the number of the nominal adherents of Christianity, the same festival was adopted by the Roman Church, giving it only the name of Christ. This tendency on the part of Christians to meet Paganism half-way was very early developed." Ibid, pg 93

It is beyond doubt that Christmas was originally a pagan festival. The time of the year and the ceremonies with which it is still celebrated, prove its origin.

Isis, the Egyptian title for the "queen of heaven," gave birth to a son at this very time, about the time of the winter solstice. The term "Yule" is the Chaldee (Babylonian) name for "infant" or "little child."

This pagan festival not only commemorated the figurative birthday of the sun in the renewal of its course, but it also was celebrated (on December 24) among the Sabeans of Arabia, as the birthday of the "Lord Moon."

In Babylon, where the sun (Baal) was the object of worship, Tammuz was considered the incarnation of the Sun.

"In the Hindu mythology, which is admitted to be essentially Babylonian, this comes out very distinctly. There, Surya, or the Sun, is represented as being incarnate, and born for the purpose of subduing the enemies of the gods, who without such a birth, could not have been subdued." Ibid pg 96

There are many other Christmas counterparts of the Babylonian winter solstice festival, such as: 1) candles lighted on Christmas eve and used throughout the festival season were equally lighted by the Pagans on the eve of the festival of the Babylonian god, to do honor to him, 2) the Christmas tree was equally common in Pagan Rome and Pagan Egypt. In Egypt that tree was the palm tree; in Rome it was the fir. The tree denoted the Pagan Messiah.

"The mother of Adonis, the Sun God and great mediatorial divinity, was mystically said to have been changed into a tree, and when in that state to have brought forth her divine son. If the mother was a tree, the son must have been recognized as the ŒMan of the branch." Ibid pg 97

The Yule log was considered the dead stock of Nimrod (or Tammuz, depending on the specific nation involved), deified as the sun god, but cut down by his enemies; the Christmas tree is Nimrod revived - the slain god come to life again.

The Yule occultic colors are red and green.

The mistletoe branch symbolized "the man, the branch" and was regarded as a divine branch - a corrupt Babylonian representation of the true Messiah. Both mistletoe and holly were considered fertility plants by the pagans.

"Babylon was, at that time, the center of the civilized world; and thus Paganism, corrupting the Divine symbol as it ever has done, had opportunities of sending forth its debased counterfeit of the truth to all the ends of the earth, through the Mysteries that were affiliated with the great central system in Babylon." Ibid pg 99

The story of the death of Adonis, also known as Tammuz, involved a fatal wound from the tusk of a boar when Tammuz was 40 years old. That is why a boar was sacrificed on this Pagan holiday. Even today, a Christmas ham is a traditional favorite of many.

"According to a Roman almanac, The Christian festival of Christmas was celebrated in Rome by A.D. 336. During the 4th century the celebration of Christ's birth on December 25 was gradually adopted by most Eastern churches. In Jerusalem, opposition to Christmas lasted longer, but it was subsequently accepted.

"The traditional customs connected with Christmas have developed from several sources as a result of the coincidence of the celebration of the birth of Christ with the pagan agricultural and solar observances at mid-winter. December 25 was regarded as the birthdate of the Iranian mystery god Mithra, the Sun of Righteousness. . . The ecclesiastical calendar retains numerous remnants of pre-Christian festivals—notably Christmas, which blends elements including both the feast of the Saturnalia and the birthday of the god Mithra." Encyclopedia Britannica, 1976 edition; Micropedia II, pg 903, Macropedia 15, pg 1063.

The much-loved hero of Christmas, Santa Claus, who "knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows when you've been bad or good" and who can circumnavigate the globe in one night, is nothing more than the Winter stag god, the god of the hunt, a "take-off" on the true God of heaven, who is omnipresent (everywhere at once), omniscient (knows all), and omnipotent (all powerful).

Santa has Eight Reindeer. Reindeer are symbolic of the Pagan Stag god. The number 8 is the number for a new beginning, and, when laid on its side, is the occultic symbol for Infinity.

There can be no doubt that the Pagan festival of the winter solstice—in other words, Christmas—was held in honor of the birth of the Babylonian Messiah.

The prophet Ezekiel is told by God to:

"Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they (the Israelites) do.

"Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord's house (the Temple) which was toward the north; and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz (A Sumerian fertility god similar to the Greek god, Adonis)." Ezekiel 8:14

December 25 was also the Day of Saturnalia, a celebration dedicated to the Chief god, Saturn, during which time there was much drinking, many banquets, and presents were exchanged.

God is very clear in his directives against the celebration of this Pagan holiday that Christians now universally celebrate as Christmas. God calls this an abomination! Christians celebrate December 25th blindly believe they are honoring the birth of Jesus, when they are in reality honoring the Pagan god Tammuz.

In Jeremiah 10:1-4, we read:

"Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

"Thus saith the Lord, ŒLearn NOT the way of the heathen, and be NOT dismayed at the signs of heaven (the queen of heaven, Isis, worshiped by the heathen), for the heathen are dismayed at them.

"For the customs of the people are futile: for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.

"They decorate it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."

There could be NO more specific description of a present-day Christmas, than this.

God says, "DON'T do it. This is Paganism!"

The Origins of Christmas

The History of Christmas

I.     When was Jesus born?

A.     Popular myth puts his birth on December 25th in the year 1 C.E.

B.     The New Testament gives no date or year for Jesus’ birth.  The earliest gospel St. Mark’s, written about 65 CE begins with the baptism of an adult Jesus.  This suggests that the earliest Christians lacked interest in or knowledge of Jesus’ birthdate.

C.     The year of Jesus birth was determined by Dionysius Exiguus, a Scythian monk, abbot of a Roman monastery.  His calculation went as follows:

a.       In the Roman, pre-Christian era, years were counted from ab urbe condita (the founding of the City [Rome]).  Thus 1 AUC signifies the year Rome was founded, 5 AUC signifies the 5th year of Rome’s reign, etc.

b.     Dionysius received a tradition that the Roman emperor Augustus reigned 43 years, and was followed by the emperor Tiberius.

c.       Luke 3:1,23 indicates that when Jesus turned 30 years old, it was the 15th year of Tiberius reign.

d.      If Jesus was 30 years old in Tiberius’ reign, then he lived 15 years under Augustus (placing Jesus birth in Augustus’ 28th year of reign).

e.       Augustus took power in 727 AUC.  Therefore, Dionysius put Jesus birth in 754 AUC.

f.        However, Luke 1:5 places Jesus’birth in the days of Herod, and Herod died in 750 AUC four years before the year in which Dionysius places Jesus birth.

D.     Joseph A. Fitzmyer, Professor Emeritus of Biblical Studies at the Catholic University of America, member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, and former president of the Catholic Biblical Association writing in the Catholic Church’s official commentary on the New Testament[1], writes about the date of Jesus’ birth, Though the year [of Jesus birth is not reckoned with certainty, the birth did not occur in AD 1.  The Christian era, supposed to have its starting point in the year of Jesus birth, is based on a miscalculation introduced ca. 533 by Dionysius Exiguus.

E.      The DePascha Computus, an anonymous document believed to have been written in North Africa around 243 CE, placed Jesus birth on March 28.  Clement, a bishop of Alexandria (d. ca. 215 CE), thought Jesus was born on November 18.  Based on historical records, Fitzmyer guesses that Jesus birth occurred on September 11, 3 BCE.

II.     How Did Christmas Come to Be Celebrated on December 25?

A.    Roman pagans first introduced the holiday of Saturnalia, a week long period of lawlessness celebrated between December 17-25.  During this period, Roman courts were closed, and Roman law dictated that no one could be punished for damaging property or injuring people during the weeklong celebration.  The festival began when Roman authorities chose an enemy of the Roman people to represent the Lord of Misrule. Each Roman community selected a victim whom they forced to indulge in food and other physical pleasures throughout the week.  At the festival’s conclusion, December 25th, Roman authorities believed they were destroying the forces of darkness by brutally murdering this innocent man or woman.

B.    The ancient Greek writer poet and historian Lucian (in his dialogue entitled Saturnalia) describes the festival’s observance in his time.  In addition to human sacrifice, he mentions these customs: widespread intoxication; going from house to house while singing naked; rape and other sexual license; and consuming human-shaped biscuits (still produced in some English and most German bakeries during the Christmas season).

To remedy this, these Christian leaders named Saturnalia’s concluding day, December 25th, to be Jesus’ birthday.

E.      Christians had little success, however, refining the practices of Saturnalia.  As Stephen Nissenbaum, professor history at the University of Massachussetts, Amherst, writes, In return for ensuring massive observance of the anniversary of the Savior’s birth by assigning it to this resonant date, the Church for its part tacitly agreed to allow the holiday to be celebrated more or less the way it had always been.  The earliest Christmas holidays were celebrated by drinking, sexual indulgence, singing naked in the streets (a precursor of modern caroling), etc.

F.      The Reverend Increase Mather of Boston observed in 1687 that the early Christians who  first observed the Nativity on December 25 did not do so thinking that Christ was born in that Month, but because the Heathens’ Saturnalia was at that time kept in Rome, and they were willing to have those Pagan Holidays metamorphosed into Christian ones. [3]  Because of its known pagan origin, Christmas was banned by the Puritans and its observance was illegal in Massachusetts between 1659 and 1681.[4]  However, Christmas was and still is celebrated by most Christians.

G.    Some of the most depraved customs of the Saturnalia carnival were intentionally revived by the Catholic Church in 1466 when Pope Paul II, for the amusement of his Roman citizens, forced Jews to race naked through the streets of the city.  An eyewitness account reports, Before they were to run, the Jews were richly fed, so as to make the race more difficult for them and at the same time more amusing for spectators.  They ran amid Rome’s taunting shrieks and peals of laughter, while the Holy Father stood upon a richly ornamented balcony and laughed heartily.

H.     As part of the Saturnalia carnival throughout the 18th and 19th centuries CE, rabbis of the ghetto in Rome were forced to wear clownish outfits and march through the city streets to the jeers of the crowd, pelted by a variety of missiles. When the Jewish community of Rome sent a petition in1836 to Pope Gregory XVI begging him to stop the annual Saturnalia abuse of the Jewish community, he responded, It is not opportune to make any innovation. [6]  On December 25, 1881, Christian leaders whipped the Polish masses into Antisemitic frenzies that led to riots across the country.  In Warsaw 12 Jews were brutally murdered, huge numbers maimed, and many Jewish women were raped.  Two million rubles worth of property was destroyed.

III.     The Origins of Christmas Customs

A.     The Origin of Christmas Tree
Just as early Christians recruited Roman pagans by associating Christmas with the Saturnalia, so too worshippers of the Asheira cult and its offshoots were recruited by the Church sanctioning Christmas Trees.[7]  Pagans had long worshipped trees in the forest, or brought them into their homes and decorated them, and this observance was adopted and painted with a Christian veneer by the Church.

B.     The Origin of Mistletoe
Norse mythology recounts how the god Balder was killed using a mistletoe arrow by his rival god Hoder while fighting for the female Nanna.  Druid rituals use mistletoe to poison their human sacrificial victim.[8]  The Christian custom of “kissing under the mistletoe” is a later synthesis of the sexual license of Saturnalia with the Druidic sacrificial cult.[9]

C.     The Origin of Christmas Presents
In pre-Christian Rome, the emperors compelled their most despised citizens to bring offerings and gifts during the Saturnalia (in December) and Kalends (in January).  Later, this ritual expanded to include gift-giving among the general populace.  The Catholic Church gave this custom a Christian flavor by re-rooting it in the supposed gift-giving of Saint Nicholas (see below).[10]

D.     The Origin of Santa Claus

a.       Nicholas was born in Parara, Turkey in 270 CE and later became Bishop of Myra.  He died in 345 CE on December 6th.  He was only named a saint in the 19th century.

b.      Nicholas was among the most senior bishops who convened the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE and created the New Testament.  The text they produced portrayed Jews as “the children of the devil”[11] who sentenced Jesus to death.

c.       In 1087, a group of sailors who idolized Nicholas moved his bones from Turkey to a sanctuary in Bari, Italy.  There Nicholas supplanted a female boon-giving deity called The Grandmother, or Pasqua Epiphania, who used to fill the children's stockings with her gifts.  The Grandmother was ousted from her shrine at Bari, which became the center of the Nicholas cult.  Members of this group gave each other gifts during a pageant they conducted annually on the anniversary of Nicholas’ death, December 6.

d.      The Nicholas cult spread north until it was adopted by German and Celtic pagans.  These groups worshipped a pantheon led by Woden –their chief god and the father of Thor, Balder, and TiwWoden had a long, white beard and rode a horse through the heavens one evening each Autumn.  When Nicholas merged with Woden, he shed his Mediterranean appearance, grew a beard, mounted a flying horse, rescheduled his flight for December, and donned heavy winter clothing.

e.       In a bid for pagan adherents in Northern Europe, the Catholic Church adopted the Nicholas cult and taught that he did (and they should) distribute gifts on December 25th instead of December 6th.

f.        In 1809, the novelist Washington Irving (most famous his The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle) wrote a satire of Dutch culture entitled Knickerbocker History.  The satire refers several times to the white bearded, flying-horse riding Saint Nicholas using his Dutch name, Santa Claus.

g.       Dr. Clement Moore, a professor at Union Seminary, read Knickerbocker History, and in 1822 he published a poem based on the character Santa Claus: “Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.  The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in the hope that Saint Nicholas soon would be there…”  Moore innovated by portraying a Santa with eight reindeer who descended through chimneys.

h.       The Bavarian illustrator Thomas Nast almost completed the modern picture of Santa Claus.  From 1862 through 1886, based on Moore’s poem, Nast drew more than 2,200 cartoon images of Santa for Harper’s Weekly.  Before Nast, Saint Nicholas had been pictured as everything from a stern looking bishop to a gnome-like figure in a frock.  Nast also gave Santa a home at the North Pole, his workshop filled with elves, and his list of the good and bad children of the world.  All Santa was missing was his red outfit.

i.         In 1931, the Coca Cola Corporation contracted the Swedish commercial artist Haddon Sundblom to create a coke-drinking Santa.  Sundblom modeled his Santa on his friend Lou Prentice, chosen for his cheerful, chubby face.  The corporation insisted that Santa’s fur-trimmed suit be bright, Coca Cola red.  And Santa was born – a blend of Christian crusader, pagan god, and commercial idol.

IV.     The Christmas Challenge

        Christmas has always been a holiday celebrated carelessly.  For millennia, pagans, Christians, and even Jews have been swept away in the season’s festivities, and very few people ever pause to consider the celebration’s intrinsic meaning, history, or origins.

       Christmas celebrates the birth of the Christian god who came to rescue mankind from the “curse of the Torah.”  It is a 24-hour declaration that Judaism is no longer valid.

        Christmas is a lie.  There is no Christian church with a tradition that Jesus was really born on December 25th.

        December 25 is a day on which Jews have been shamed, tortured, and murdered.

        Many of the most popular Christmas customs – including Christmas trees, mistletoe, Christmas presents, and Santa Claus – are modern incarnations of the most depraved pagan rituals ever practiced on earth.

Many who are excitedly preparing for their Christmas celebrations would prefer not knowing about the holiday’s real significance.  If they do know the history, they often object that their celebration has nothing to do with the holiday’s monstrous history and meaning.  “We are just having fun.”

Imagine that between 1933-45, the Nazi regime celebrated Adolf Hitler’s birthday – April 20 – as a holiday.  Imagine that they named the day, “Hitlerday,” and observed the day with feasting, drunkenness, gift-giving, and various pagan practices.  Imagine that on that day, Jews were historically subject to perverse tortures and abuse, and that this continued for centuries.

Now, imagine that your great-great-great-grandchildren were about to celebrate Hitlerday.  April 20th arrived. They had long forgotten about Auschwitz and Bergen Belsen.  They had never heard of gas chambers or death marches.  They had purchased champagne and caviar, and were about to begin the party, when someone reminded them of the day’s real history and their ancestors’ agony.  Imagine that they initially objected, “We aren’t celebrating the Holocaust; we’re just having a little Hitlerday party.”  If you could travel forward in time and meet them; if you could say a few words to them, what would you advise them to do on Hitlerday?

On December 25, 1941, Julius Streicher, one of the most vicious of Hitler’s assistants, celebrated Christmas by penning the following editorial in his rabidly Antisemitic newspaper, Der Stuermer:

If one really wants to put an end to the continued prospering of this curse from heaven that is the Jewish blood, there is only one way to do it: to eradicate this people, this Satan’s son, root and branch.

It was an appropriate thought for the day.  This Christmas, how will we celebrate?

PATTERSON... the masses of Caribbean people are still to be brought on board the reparation train

ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC) — The second Caribbean Community (Caricom) Conference on Reparations began here on Sunday night with reparations activists joining political leaders in calling for justice for a region that is still reeling from the social and economic effects from the transatlantic slave trade.

"I implore all of us to see ourselves as working towards one aim, one destiny -- the search for justice and repair of our societies; societies which were disfigured by colonisation; societies that continue to suffer the legacies of enslavement and native genocide," said PJ Patterson, former prime minister of Jamaica.

"We need all hands on deck, wherever we are located in the west, in the north, in the east, because the tentacles of colonial injustices were spread far and wide and their legacies continue to be far-reaching to this very day.

"The masses of Caribbean people are still to be brought on board the reparation train. They are stuck at the halts and stations all around the region and indeed in the Diaspora, waiting for reason to board. If we do not wish to have them waiting indefinitely on the platform, or worse boarding the wrong train, we need to use this forum to settle all the unanswered questions around the struggle for reparatory justice," Patterson said.

Patterson was among several speakers lending his voice to the cause. University of the West Indies Vice Chancellor Sir Hilary Beckles, and Dr Julius Garvey, son of Jamaican Negro rights activist Marcus Garvey, also spoke at the start of the three-day event.

In delivering the feature address, Garvey lamented that Africa is being re-colonised.

"We also see Africans as the poorest people on the planet. In America, the wealth of the average African American is one-twentieth of his or her white counterpart. It almost seems that nothing has changed in 100 years so we still have to speak of repairing the breach, which, in my view, is the full meaning of reparations.

"I would like to suggest that the struggle for reparations is and should be firmly embedded in the struggle for us to repair the damage caused by 500 years of Euro-American dominance so that we address the root causes of the problem," Garvey said.

Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who is also the Caricom Chairman, said the transnational slave trade led to the separation and destruction of many families and of the cultural values, tradition, beliefs and artifacts of our people.

He said that Caricom's concept of reparations is not defined by or limited to economic reparations. It also includes reconciliation, racial equality, inclusivity, equality of opportunity and justice.

"The atrocities committed against our people rank among the worst examples of human barbarism. This institutionalised trade in humans and its attendant atrocities have resulted in a state of underdevelopment in the Caribbean and Africa, 180 years after its abolition," Browne said, adding "notwithstanding these atrocities; what we seek now is reparation, not reprisal."

He said the region does not hold present-day Europeans responsible for "the evils of the ruling classes that controlled their societies and enriched themselves from the cruelties and barbarism to which they subjected our ancestors in this region".

However, he said that it does not preclude them from the acknowledgement of such wrongs. Instead, they should commit themselves to "the noble action of resolving them by honouring our reparatory claims."

Patterson stressed that people should refrain from placing blame at the feet of Africa where some leaders were induced by intimidation, bribery or greed to collaborate in the capture and transport of Africans who were destined for slavery.

"There is no principle of law which permits the organisers of a criminal enterprise to escape responsibility because others collaborated in carrying out the enterprise. Legal responsibility is not affected by any collaboration," Patterson cautioned.

"The most serious penalties under criminal law are reserved for those who organise the criminal enterprise and profit most from it."

Prime Minister Browne said: "Simply stated, our contention is that our predecessors in this region were subjected to the most inhumane treatment that would today be legitimate matters for trial by the International Criminal Court.

"In the course of that treatment, they were deprived of their liberty and the right to their lives; they were treated not as human beings, not even as animals -- they were treated as "property" to be used or disposed -- as suited the thinking of their owners."

The regional conference, which is being convened by the Caricom Reparations Commission (CRC) is being held under the theme "'An Expert Conference on Caribbean Reparations: Scientific Engagement and Community Mobilisation'.

It is aimed at intensifying discussions regarding the scientific and popular discourse on the CRC's 10-point plan on reparatory justice which was adopted by Caricom leaders at their Inter-Sessional summit in St Vincent and the Grenadines in March.

The 10-point plan includes reparation in the areas of public health, education and literacy.

This conference is one of several activities to address the issue of reparations for Caribbean countries whose people suffered as a result of the transatlantic trade and chattel slavery.

He's a little off in his hour-long video "What is X-insanity (misspelling deliberate)?", but he makes some sense in debunking a lot of x-tian myths = particularly among Israelites, so I'm also enclosing that link as well.  Http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=ray+hagins&qpvt=ray+hagins&FORM=VDRE#view=detail&mid=76F0407DBA6BA4A0A9B976F0407DBA6BA4A0A9B9.

PLEASE KNOW THAT BY NO MEANS AM I ADVOCATING SUPPORT OF ANY MINISTER, LEADER OR ANYONE WHO PRACTICES THE WORSHIP OF A FALSE god!   PLEASE BE CLEAR ON THAT!  However, I know that knowledge may come to us from different sources and I keep my mind open to receive this knowledge.

I believe you will find his videos very interesting and informative.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works,

there is none that doeth good.
The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men,

to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge?

who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.
Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion!

when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people,

Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
